Palermo
Room was basic but clean, bed was comfy. No room service or food service other than breakfast, no flexibility around earlier breakfast times as food is brought in. A safe place to sleep rather than a hotel. Staff very friendly.

This hotel is 18th century mansion that is falling apart. The bathroom smelled of sewage. The shower was just a curtain on the side so taking a shower meant flooding the bathroom. The toilet did not flush without manually doing so inside the tank. The bed was super hard! My advise is stay away from this place

This hotel was a perfect Sicilian treat, architecture, was amazing a 750 year old home, turned into a small hotel and private apartments. We arrived by cab after a very long flight at 22:00 , we thought we were in the wrong place, neighborhood was a bit scary, a tiny sign no lights, and we didn’t know how to open the door, luckily i had the hotel # were buzzed in,the owner was very nice, when the door was opened , it was magical, it opened to a court yard with cars and a grand staircase went up 50 steps, to hotel entrance, the owner helped us with our luggage, this guys gets a work out , the room was very clean, nothing special ikea bed and mattress , so many things to bang your head on in the room, but the room looked into the amazing courtyard, it was quite because it was not on the street. , but very noisy in morning, other guest doors slammed breakfast being prepared ect, but we wanted to get up any way so no problem, the breakfast was served in a beautiful room with a 750 year old mural painted on the ceiling, very special , breakfast was local sweets ,juice and an amazing cappuccino , small sandwiches, which was perfect, i don’t eat breakfast normally. the room was very small and i wish we could have had access to this beautiful room which had a small balcony and view of one of the streets that went to the market, but we were only allowed in for breakfast. That was a bummer it would’ve been nice to have a place to sit and watch Palermo go by.

Never again
I contacted the property beforehand and I was told that i could have 2 single beds in my room. When i checked in i was told the property doesnt have any single beds except in the family rooms. The fact i was outright lied too just so they could have my money darn right rude! I didnt get any sleep and it ruined my trip.

Once we were able to find the property it was good but it was difficult to find, we arrived at night and the area was a little sketchy. We were lead to believe parking was available and it wasn’t close. However, the hotel was located in a unique building, room had a balcony overlooking the old town streets and breakfast room and food was amazing. My recommendation is arrive during the day, the area feels completely different then and don’t drive in Palermo if you can avoid it.

I paid $67 for the cheapest available room. Room was clean. The exterior door to the balcony has no weather or soundproofing. It sounds like you are right outside next to the traffic (all night). I would look for another property in a similar price range next time due to the sound. But this hotel and in a good location

Step back in time.
The hotel location is very good. Close to rail station and popular sites. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Helped with travel advice to get to the property from airport. The property is very very old. Which means it’s all marble and stone and everything echoes. Room was clean and nice. The only real downside is the noise outside. It seems the center of Palermo never sleeps. Be prepared to wear ear plugs or get woke many times a night by loud noises. This of course is no fault of the Ballarò and I would not let it keep you from staying there. Just something to be aware of.

More a youth hostel than a hotel
Very minimalist comfort without any charm. Uninviting and dirty location. Dated and very old building. Lots of stairs before you get to the front door. Receptionist present only for reception. More a youth hostel than a hotel. We preferred to pay for the 3 nights and leave straight away rather than stay there...(no refund possible...)

the area this property is in is extremely dirty and trash absolutely everywhere. I have been busy travelling and did not realize I needed to contact the property about when I am arriving as the front desk was supposed to still be open mid day. I could not get into the property, luckily people coming in let me in with them, or else I would have been stuck outside in the middle of the day as no one was there. When I arrived, no one seemed to be at the hotel, but I saw a paper on the desk with my name and room number, and the room was open so I went in. Maybe 30min later my door flung open when I was in bed. I thought maybe someone accidentally came in, but it seemed to be the manager?? And all he said was I need to give him my documents for check in, I didn’t even know who this person was. It was so unprofessional AND unsafe? He didn’t knock or introduce himself and could have opened the room while I was changing. There was also hairs on the bed and the bathroom was not connected to our room even though some photos show they are connected. The only redeeming quality was that the breakfast was good, but we were not offered coffee once even though others seemed to have coffee made for them. Also, the next morning someone barged into our room once again without knocking.

This was a one night only thing, and it did serve that purpose. The room is clean but quite without charm, the building in disrepair, the block a bit shabby. It's fine if you are not looking to stay somewhere charming in Palermo.

Convenient for a weekend
Just ok. The rooms were in a newer building of the hotel next door. Not as roomy as the original hotel building so the breakfast area is quite cramped and no common space at all in the new building. Rooms nice and modern though. Great location.
