Fado, history and food.
If you really want to experience the heart of old Lisbon, this is the place to stay. It’s a little tricky being as the sidewalks are only 6 inches wide, and the tourist tram 28 runs right by the window. However, step out the door and you are in a different world probably that you’ve ever experienced, little alleys and stairways leading off all over the place and this area is definitely old and ancient. It’s amazing. It’s such a tourist area for being an old slum. Really enjoyed my stay, but I can’t say it would be for everybody. We never went on the tram because they look packed like sardines, and I would rather eat them from a can. We were there for the history and the Fado and we found both in plenty in between drinking espresso and eating many pastries. Our favorite restaurant and Fado house was Alfama grill. Walk and enjoy and go to the fado museum.

Excellent service and great accommodations
The service was excellent! The front desk was very accommodating and friendly. The view was beautiful and the apartment is excellent condition for the price. The only huge downside is that the hotel doesn’t have an elevator. We had only a small carry-on and a backpack but when you have to get up the stairs to the third floor, it really it’s very very challenging. It gets to you!

Great Alfama location. Many dining options and convenient to tram 28. There’s an excellent cafe next door and good restaurants within walking distance. It’s a short tram ride to the center with great shopping and some of the best restaurants. The staff and accommodations are excellent. Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved staying in Alfama Lounge Suites. We stayed in the Superior Apartment, 2 Bedrooms and it was huge, clean and beautiful. Staff was slightly down the street but there 24/7 which was perfect when we arrived at the crack of dawn. They checked us in, took our luggage and gave us some advice as to what do and eat that early. The one draw-back to our room was it was down a wide staircase and there was no elevator, so not accessable." The hotel helped us get our luggage down but we carried it back up when we needed to leave at 3am to catch a flight. No idea if someone would have come help (probably they would) but we didn't want to bother anyone. Just thought that anyone with mobility issues should be warned.

Great location, be aware of noise
Good location in Alfama. Might recommend an inner room if possible, as the hotel is on the Tram 28 line and comes right under your window. It starts at 6:30 AM and runs til 11:00 or 11:30, so if you are a light sleeper, I would take note of this. The tram stop is steps away from the hotel, which is super convenient. Drivers seem to have a problem with the street address, so I would recommend that you put in Copenhagen Coffee Labs, Alfama store into Bolt or taxi. It’s right next store. If you like coffee houses then the Copenhagen Coffee Labs is a must see. Great pastries and coffee, set in a uniquely decorated cellar dwelling.
