Heaton Park is a municipal park in Manchester offering championship golf, a neoclassical historic home and over 600 acres of rolling grounds and serene green space. Heaton Hall, the manor house on the grounds, is a Grade I Listed Building dating to the 18th century.
The park has long been used to host public events and festivals and is a popular destination for visitors and locals alike. It was opened to the public in 1902 and served vital purposes during both world wars as a training ground and military camp. Today it’s a history and leisure attraction.

Highlights of Heaton Park
Heaton Hall is a major feature and the primary attraction of Heaton Park. This Grade I Listed Building has been called the finest house of its type in the region. Inside, you can explore the library, dining room, music room, and rare Etruscan room, all immaculately preserved in the same state with authentic period furnishing and decor.
The park has a lake with a beach and boating. Musical events and concerts are often held here, some of which have seen hundreds of thousands attend. Open-air theatre productions have been held in recent years, from Shakespeare to the 'Wizard of Oz' and more.

Good to know before you visit Heaton Park
Parking is available at several car parks nearby, with cash payment being accepted. Dogs are allowed at Heaton Park and can be off-lead as long as you keep them under strict control. The boating lake permits catch-and-release fishing.
The park is also family-friendly with a toddler play area to keep the kids entertained and occupied. A baby-changing room can also be found on-site. The park is disability accessible and wheelchair friendly. While you may bring a picnic lunch, barbecuing is not permitted. The park is also available to book for private events.
