Bunut Bolong is a giant hollow banyan tree in the village of Manggisari in Jembrana, West Bali. This old banyan is a natural landmark that’s sanctified by locals who believe the tree is centuries old. There are tales of unfortunate people who met their demise trying to chop it down to remove it.
Shrines adorned in yellow and white cloths are at both ends of the tree’s straddling base. The large hole through the middle of the tree was formed naturally and it’s now as wide as the road running through it. The road connects the village of Pekutatan in West Bali to the north coast. It's usually an alternative route for getting to North Bali via the central highlands.

Features of Bunut Bolong
Bunut Bolong is a wonderful sight as you drive through the region – you can simply pull over to take some shots and post to your social media. This unique Bali landmark is situated in a cool upland area. Fog is common in the mornings and late afternoons, which adds to the magical aura of the site.
There are no visiting fees to see Bunut Bolong. Most visitors head to the several warung or roadside food stalls selling snacks and refreshments nearby. Bunut Bolong is around a 2-hour drive north-west from Kuta.
