Simple, done well, by lovely people!
Simple accommodation, done brilliantly, and run by a super-helpful manager. A very warm welcome on arrival, a clean and comfortable room, and a good night's sleep.

Close to cruise port but we did have to stand in the rain because we didn’t have access to our room until the owner came to open for us. Very nice staff and rooms were super clean. Prices were reasonable compared to big named hotels. We always like to stay at smaller inns to get the feel of the neighborhood. Great neighborhood pub. People all super friendly and the locals went out of their way to welcome us and visit!

Southampton stay
Convenient but road is very noisy for a stay in Southampton for St Marys attendance. Bed was a little uncomfortable for someone who is 6'2" but facilities were clean and safe. Good to have free parking and overall about right value for money.

Good size room. Clean, neutral and modern.
Very much enjoyed our stay, really really friendly, the rooms are a great size, with everything you need included, the decor and furniture is clean, neutral and modern. I personally would have liked an extra pillow, which may have been provided should I have asked, overall it’s great value. I would rebook

Was not that clean taps mouldy bed damp. Sheet’s stained. Disappointing for the cost of 80 pounds a night room only. Very noisy too.

Super clean, comfy room
Landlady is very friendly. The room and ensuite were spotless. Unfortunately, the pub was closed unexpectedly so didn't get to relax as much as we'd have liked.

Good location, comfortable room
Stayed here prior to catching a cruise. Was disappointed that the adjoining pub doesnt serve food. There is a reasonable pub 5 minutes walk away and for breakfast there are a number of cafes a short drive away. Room was ok - we had the family room with kettle and toaster and ensuite.

We booked for 2 nights, it was so filthy we checked out before 7.00 am the first night. We have tried to raise a complaint with The Swan but choose to ignore all attempts.

The Swan Inn Southampton
As soon as we artived the owner met us and took us ti our topm. Explained the entry procedure. The room was quite basic but clean and comfortable and more than acceptable for the price of the accomodation. The only slight doenside we were led to believe there was a bar and food but it is currently being reurbushed.
The twin bedded room clean and tidy

Lovely stay
Stayed for one night, with other family members, total of 4 rooms. Rooms were lovely, reasonably comfortable, spacious and newly decorated. Check in was easy and staff were great and very helpful. Could be improved with the following: sound proofing between the bathrooms (there is none), plug sockets in suitable places (near the kettle and mirror), another bedside lamp as there is only one, bathmat for the shower, larger towels, hairdryer in the room (rather than having to ask at reception), consider tall guests when replacing bed frames and not have a foot board.

Great place to stay
Great for short stay over. We stopped overnight on our way to a cruise holiday with family. Had 2 double en-suite rooms. Very clean. Met the housekeeper she was lovely and chatty. We contacted the hotel weeks before and mentioned the eta and they had our rooms ready for 2pm check in. There is a pub underneath they allow to order food or bring your own in to eat in there. There is a garage over the road that also serves cold sandwiches and snacks. Another pub a little walk away that does food and has an outside area. The swan inn is on a very busy main road and has limited parking spaces. Was well worth the money. We caught a bus outside the garage into Southampton town centre for a shop and lunch took 15 mins and drops off outside too, saved driving in during the day family ticket £5 all day, this includes 5 adults or adults and children up to a group of 5.

2/10 Poor

Great disappointment
Terrible experience. Poor accommodation, Stank of dampness. £110 for uncomfortable beds, no food and no-one available in the am for any assistance

6/10 Good

Everything is good. The hosts are very nice and helpful. Because I went on a road trip on the check in day. so I reached to the hotel very late around 11:30 p.m., but the host are still there and waited for me. one thing I wanna point out is I went on a summer heat wave day, the room doesn't have a AC, so it was extremely hot when I was sleeping. But, I know Southampton usually isn't that warm in the summer. So I would say it is just the weather condition problem, not the hotel's fault.

Very happy stay
Fantastic accommodation, very happy with stay. Clean, fresh, modern and well sized rooms. Lovely helpful, informative and assistive staff. Has free parking on site but it is limited so be aware if need to drop luggage off. Bring ear plugs if you like a sleep in as some rooms are on a main road so gets a little noisy early morning off buses. Close and easy drive to cruise terminals. Only negative was our own fault and no reflection on the pub at all and only writing as info for future guests as we didn’t check-the pub doesn’t do food and arriving at 7pm at night we were unable to get in any restaurants around and luckily spotted a chip shop that was about to close. The following morning for breakfast we drove to Witherspoons for breakfast and we luckily got a parking space out front so we could keep an eye on our car which was packed with cases and would have been unsafe to leave unattended.

8/10 Very good

Overall, it was a nice stay. The owner was really friendly and helpful. The room was clean and recently updated, with a small fridge. The only one, that we had in England. Bonus. It's not really a negative, depending on your needs or expectations, but there is no food available. I wrongly assumed, that being a pub, that they might have food. The nearest takeout, was closed and it required a long walk to find restaurant. Perhaps we should have planned in advance, for that. We didn't want to drive, because parking there is limited and being a pub, we would probably lose our parking. But, it was as advertised, so no real complaints.

The owner Jackie is lovely and very helpful, but the rooms are up outdoor metal stairs difficult for us to manage with suitcases. No food on site or nearby.
