Beautiful place to see sunset and close proximity to great sand dunes park. Decent grab and go breakfast. Sleds for rent for sand dunes. Bring food and water unless you want to drive 35-40 min away. Convient store on property with limited provisions. Only restaurant was closed for season-not advertised closing when made booking. Lady that checked us in was not overly friendly

Stay at your own risk
I was excited about staying in the geo dome while visiting the sand dunes. However, I guess my expectations were too high. First, we arrived and it was difficult to find the office. I was called earlier that day and told my card was declined (no reason it should have been) then when we arrived at the dome it had an intense smell. I didn’t know what the smell was and called the front desk and was told it was probably plastic. We thought about staying elsewhere but it was already 8pm and we were very tired. We stayed the one night at the geodome, but never again! I couldn’t sleep smelling plastic!!

I stayed in one of the geodesic domes, which are behind the main lodge. There are 7 domes that share 3 bathrooms, which are in a different building. You receive a key upon check-in to unlock one of 3 doors to a private bath (sink, toilet, and shower). I was a little worried about having access to a bathroom given all 7 domes were rented during my stay and only 2 of the 3 bathrooms were usable...but never had to wait. The two things the bathrooms need are a mirror and additional wall hooks. Perhaps a mirror in the domes as well. The domes do have a small air conditioner (which I used during the day), along with a heater (which was needed at night when the temps dipped into the 40s). I loved sleeping in the dome...the bed and pillows were comfy. My only complaint was the people arriving later in the evening. I would fall asleep, then be awakened by vehicles approaching (you park next to your dome). Unfortunately for me, the guests in both domes next to mine arrived late, so it was nonstop noise as they parked, unloaded, talked out loud, shut car doors, and locked their car doors (beeps/horn sounds). The domes really should be farther apart OR require all arrivals be before 9 PM. I loved the location of the lodge to Great Sand Dunes National Park. I do photography so staying so close to the park allowed me to take late afternoon/evening and daytime pics (the dunes look different depending on the time of day). I would definitely stay here again! Super friendly staff as well.

Great location with short drive to Great Sand Dunes. Great view! Very quiet. Comfortable room. Easy to rent sand sleds for a day in the park. We drove 25 minutes to Alamosa for dinner.

Nice rooms overlooking Great Sand Dunes National Park. Adequate breakfast. Unfortunately after Labor Day there is no place close by to eat dinner. Convenience to the park is its biggest plus.

Great location at foot of the Great Sand Dunes. Rooms are simple but very clean with comfy beds, lots of towels and Dive toiletries. Minutes away from tge Oasis where you can get an excellent meal. Very good value and view of the dunes can't be beat.

The motel is old but very clean. The manager is very helpful and presented us with 2 very well supplied goody bags in our arrival. Walking distance to a number of restaurants and shopping.

2/10 Poor

Our bed was wet due to a roof leak. It was hard to find our way around due to lack of lighting. Breakfast had nowhere to eat except picnic area outside but it was cold on the 40s in morning. Kitchen lacked hot chocolate and only had coffee. Nice concept but very poorly run. Only good thing was proximity to great bear dunes national park.
