    Nasty

    This was 100% the worst place I have ever stayed. The room had black mold in the bathroom. There was dried toothpaste all over the sink. Lord knows what was all over the light switch. I took plenty of pictures of thr room. We couldnt get a new room.

    The owner of the hotel always treat me with the most professional customer service ever and I've stayed at a lot of hotels in Portland that was way more fancier and no hospitality.. but the shilo inn has a great owner.. i lost my place in the pandemic and i had to stay at the shilo for over a month and ownership didn't charge me the full rate and took off the parking fee!

    Overall pretty questionable

    The room itself wasn’t bad, but it (and the beds) were not clean. There were several mystery stains on the sheets that we did not feel great about. The outside of the hotel is very sketchy. I almost didn’t feel safe parking my car there (I had a bag on top of my car that was not lockable). Plus, parking in the hotel lot is an extra $8. Across the street was a 7/11 turned homeless shelter, and a LOT of questionable people walking around. Okay place if you aren’t worried about your car being broken into and if you’re only staying for a night, but would NOT recommend for a single traveler.

    The room is very clean and excellent value. And the location is so close to the convention center, the Pearl District and downtown. Hotel staff are all attentive professional and friendly. I highly recommend and will stay here again for sure.

    The initial contact person was encountered via a phone confirmation and advisement that I would arrive after mid-night. The manager was rude and admonished I should make up my mind about when I would arrive. Upon arrival at 3:00 am, I was informed that on site parking was $ 8.00/day and $100.00 deposit was required. This information wasn't in my itinerary. When requesting a TV remote, toilet paper, and clean towels, I was required to pick up these items in the lobby, ALL THREE TIMES. The staff at the Shillo were polite and friendly with the EXCEPTION of the manager who answered my initial phone call.
