I don't know where to begin... The worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
I have travelled a lot, and in the last 3 months alone I have stayed in over 30 hotels.
This takes the biscuit as the worst one by a million miles.
The incompetence of the staff is astonishing, the lack of communication is laughable and the standard of the hotel just beggars belief.
Our mattress was a dish sponge with a hole in the middle and a sheet on top and the rooms are tired. That said, we could just about overlook this if it wasn't for the following.
The hotel had no hot water for 24 hours and the manger didn't think it his responsibility to contact a maintenance company or to update any guests throughout the situation.
When we complained (15 hours into it), he assured me it was out of his hands. I was lied to by two members of staff, who both told me that it would be back on within the hour and a maintenance man was fixing it as we spoke.
Picton itself is lovely and we put the hotel experience behind us and enjoyed our time there.
I wasn't going to leave a review but upon check out and while on a ferry across to Wellington, my credit card was charged £161.87 (approx $350) without my knowledge, consent or any prior communication.
Having contacted the hotel, they told me they had 'made a mistake and were struggling to refund it'.
Too long didn't read version - DO NOT STAY HERE, STAY LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE!
