I stayed for three nights in two different rooms. I thought the first one was bad, but ended up moving into one even worse. The place is very old, and in serious need of renovation. If you are travelling alone and want the cheapest possible option, it works for a short trip. I wouldn't say the double rooms are big enough for two people though.
The room was not very clean - and the bathroom even worse. There was no soap, the towel rail was hanging off the wall, there was dirt in the bath and on the floor, and one of the towels had a stain on it. Even with the room window closed, you can smell people smoking outside. You can also hear the room next door when they use the bathroom.
The reception staff are lovely, and even without speaking much English do their best to accommodate. I knew there wasn't much they would be able to do about the condition of the rooms so didn't want to bother them too much with requests, but they gave good tips about what to do in Porto.
As a very low budget option it is fine for a short trip, but if you want anything other than very basic and not very clean, you are better off staying elsewhere.
