I am autistic, and therefore read everything and anything about where I'm going before my stay to alleviate any anxiety. Unfortunately, some of the reviews I read were not great, so I started to panic about my choice of accommodation; those reviews couldn't be further from the truth!
The lodge is beautiful! The bathrooms are very tastefully done - modern without clashing with the traditional decor - and the four poster bed was such a lovely touch.
Our stay was mid-November, and it was very cold outside. Inside the room, however, we were lovely and warm. We couldn't hear the traffic (even when my partner was woken up by his cold, subsequently waking me up), and even as a fussy coeliac I was catered for at breakfast.
The staff were pleasant, and I don't understand why they've previously received negative reviews. They're not around in the evening, but that suited me and my partner. We don't like people fussing over us, we like to do our own thing in our own time, and this stay allowed just that. The honesty bar was a lovely touch, free hot drinks were available 24 hours, and although we didn't need it, we were allowed to use the lodge's crockery if we ordered a takeaway (as they don't serve dinner).
Though quite far from Bath city centre, getting there in an Uber was never a problem. We were there during the Christmas market, and it cost around £15 in and £25 out (we were warned of the additional cost before booking). I would highly recommend the lodge, and we'll be back.
