Amazing country hotel
We stayed here for my wife’s birthday and choose the Guardsroom as it had a four poster bed. The room is lovely with so much character The staff are excellent and super attentive The food was really nice, we had dinner and breakfast. I really would recommend staying here as it cannot be faulted

We stayed here in the Tudor 4 poster room. While some of the reviews mentioned noise in some of the suites, we only heard guests downstairs when we were in the bathroom and then only in the afternoon. It was quiet in the evening / night. It was a great place to stay after a 5,000 mile trip from the Western US and recover from jet lag before going on to meet friends and family elsewhere in the UK. (It’s about a hour from Heathrow). The ford was good, the beer excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. And amazing to think that it’s been an alehouse and then an Inn since 1383. A business and a building with some serious staying power :)

Lovely property on the edge of an idyllic village setting on a green. Staff were welcoming, room clean and tidy and food was lovely - the only thing that let it down was the cold shower and the fact that our friends could hear every word we said when we were in the bathroom area.
