DO NOT BOTHER - disgusting owner behaviour
Upon attempting to check-in at around 6.30pm, after a long drive from Airlie Beach (5hrs), the purported owner of this hotel was rude, obnoxious and aggressive towards me.
The internet was supposedly down at the hotel and owner wouldn’t accept cash bond to cover incidentals and insisted on writing down my Credit Card details on a piece paper so he could later charge my card. This is not customary practice in this day and age given the very high levels of credit card fraud and me / family being half way through our 2 week holiday, I did not want my CC to be compromised and cancelled.
Owner refused to answer if he had contacted the internet service provider to register the issue or how long issue would take to resolve.
This hotel booking was fully prepaid back in May for a one-night stay after Xmas.
I refused to stay at the hotel as the behaviour of the owner was quite disturbing and made it feel unsafe for my young family, which includes a 23 month old.
My family and I ended up staying at The Empire Hotel/ Apartments down the road, which I would highly recommend.
I have lodged a formal complaint with Hotels.com regarding this incident, which while is indeed a very rare occurrence, and I usually don’t provide reviews, as there never any such issues to highlight, but the absolutely disgusting behaviour of the owner, leaves me no choice but to warn others.
I strongly recommend against booking this hotel.
