My 8 y.o. son and I checked in on Sept. 24th, Tuesday at 2pm straight from the airport (from Toronto). I had originally booked a Deluxe Room (Queen bed Twin bed). Having used Expedia quite a bit, I could have access to perks like 'Free Room Upgrade'. So I inquired about it. The gentleman checking us in informed me that they were at full capacity and that option isn't available. I thought, ok, fair enough, just thought I'd try. He gave us the room card, gave few instructions and off we went to catch the elevator heading to the level where our assigned room was. As I opened the door to the room, I realized that the guy downgraded us and gave us a 'Classic Room' which was essentially just a Queen bed, with no couch. Coming from a long flight, I was a bit irritated so I got my son to come back to the lobby with me to speak to this hotel concierge. His excuse for giving me that room was because I was staying in the room with a child and not an adult. I said I wanted a couch which is why I specifically booked the Deluxe Room. He quickly resolved the issue and got another gentleman assist us with our luggages to move into the other room. That experience left a bad taste in my mouth. If I paid for a specific room, I shouldn't be getting any less than that. I thought that was a very sneaky move from the hotel. Not nice. Other than that, the rest of the hotel staff we have encountered during our stay were pleasant and helpful.
