Rethymno is a beautiful beach town on the north coast of Crete. As the largest Greek island, Crete is blessed with many towns along the coast, but Rethymno stands out for its pretty Venetian harbour, an excellent range of restaurants and tavernas, as well as its long sandy beach.

Once you’ve had enough of the sun, sea and sand for the day, head into town to explore some ancient architecture in Rethymno Old Town. There’s also a museum that exhibits contemporary art from across Greece and around the world. Rethymno is around 70 km east of Chania International airport, with transfers taking around 1 hour.
