Nathon Pier is one of 4 main ferry piers on Koh Samui. It’s located on the northwest coast of the island, between Laem Yai and Lipa Noi beaches. While Nathon is Samui’s capital town, it manages to retain a quaint local atmosphere and hosts the island’s main administrative offices on the island.

What are the highlights of Nathon Pier?

Samui’s Nathon Pier comprises 3 jetties, 2 of which serve different ferry companies. The northern jetty is used by Seatran, while the central bridge – the largest and oldest jetty – is used by Lomprayah. The rather mall southern jetty is usually used by fishing and long-tail boats.

The 2 bridges dedicated to ferries have large waiting rooms to comfortably accommodate passengers. There are small shops selling drinks and snacks, but you can also find vendors selling local favourites such as barbequed squid and sausages.

Good to know about Nathon Pier in Samui

Ferry traffic is quite intense at Nathon Pier, as it’s linked to Donsak Pier (just south of Surat Thani on the mainland), Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao. The connection with the mainland is the busiest, as there’s a ferry departure to Donsak every hour between 5 am to 7 pm.

You’ll find a variety of restaurants, shops, pharmacies, banks, a small Tesco Lotus supermarket, and small hotels near the pier. Transfer services are also available to take arriving passengers to major resort towns on the east coast of Samui. The cheapest way to get to your destination is by songthaew (pickup taxi).
