Highest quality hotel

Perfect hotel of highest quality. They get everything right including nice food too. Just beware seagulls will likely target your car when parked

Very friendly and helpful staff. Check in was quick. Room on 2nd floor at front of hotel was large and quirky. Some noise from road ouside but soon got used to it. Tea and nespresso making facilities with fresh milk carton in fridge. Free still water bottles replenished in the fridge each day. Breakfast was freshly cooked and very tasty. Good location with easy walking distance to both rail stations and bus stop nearby. Very enjoyable stay.

A Perfect stay in Dorchester

Had a fantastic stay at the King’s Arms for 2 nights with a few friends. We must praise all the staff, and their impeccably good service, throughout our stay. The manager was very engaging, and there was little doubt that he ran a happy ship ! The food and drink was of an exceptionally high standard, and the breakfast options were perfect. The rooms were cosy and clearly recently upgraded. It has been a while since we have experienced this level of service at a hotel….. and we travel quite frequently. I fail to see how the hotel receives a lowly star rating of 3.5!!! Surely a Mistake !!! I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough !

4/10 Fair

Whilst the hotel was nicely decorated and stylish, the room was very hot and the windows couldn’t be opened more than a tiny amount. The milk in the fridge had gone off so couldn’t use it.

2/10 Poor

The inside the holtel was lovely. The food was excellent - loved the food. The staff was great and friendly. The room was awful! Dusty bed and bed linen, slippery floors with and without shoes, dust on the lamps and on tip of cupboard. The only place in the room that was dust feed and nice was the bathroom. Once I walked into the room it smelt musty and old, and I had to sleep in it the smell. Its played on my allergies and I couldnt stop sneezing throught the day and night. Use one box of tissue and one toliet roll to clean my nose. The next night the music allocated to the outside dinning area plus below my bedroom window kept playing past 11pm. I think it was 11.20pm when I had to call the front desk asking wjen will it be switched off... and they said they will see if they can lower it. It was evently switched off. When speaking to the morning front desk they said it should have been swithched off at btween 10.30-11pm. I did not get a wick of sleep that night.

Disabled solo visit. Excellent staff & hotel

The Kings Arms is a gem. The staff particularly Cat are lovely! NOTHING is too much trouble. I’m disabled, using 2 crutches & they were all absolutely lovely to me. Food was good excellent, although to my tastes it was a bit “posh” but that didn’t take anything away from the standard of cooking.
Linda, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Beautiful public areas.

Booked a fancy twin did say air conditioning but no sign of it and rather uncomfortable stay. Staff superb, food superb but not likely to choose to stay again. Great for venues but not up to our normal standard for amount charged.
Brenda, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

The decor was very dark in the hotel and rooms, a bit depressing. In general the visit was good with mostly friendly staff, food good. Had a problem on check out as was told my pre payment had not gone through, only to be told when returning with proof it had, that it was now sorted, but with no apology, not the right experience, need to train your staff to apologise when it's thier fault. Also I think to add a service charge to ameal for two people is unacceptable. I even noticed that a service charge was added to breakfast, this is really not on

I was upgraded to a better and larger room at the front of the hotel. I was allowed to leave my car in the hotel carpark after checking out, to enable me to do two exhibitions at museums in the High Street. Highly recommend breakfast and very pleasant and courteous staff.

Solid and quaint hotel in Dorchester. Centrally located and convenient. Parking around the back was a little hard to find initially but worked out fine. Staff was very attentive and courteous. Room was modern and had all of the conveniences. Great stay and would probably return if I was in the area again

Loved the room and decor of hotel. Staff were efficient and friendly and knew what they were doing. Lovely dinner menu and excellent food. Great breakfast choice too. Room was a bit warm and the window wouldn’t stay open. Only there for 1 night sadly so would haven mentioned it if staying longer. Hope to return

The unusual ambiance was lovely. The food was great. One member of staff stands out for many reasons, Liam. Liam was super polite, very nimble with serivice, extremely pleased to oblige and humerous in the perfect way. Liam elevated our stay to the next level of enjoyment. We wish him all the best and thank him for being there!

Lovely old coaching inn refurbished recently to a high standard. Rather noisy due to being on the main road and only secondary double-glazing due to Grade II listing. Car parking at rear and excellent breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. No reduction for single occupancy.

Lovely stay

Lovely hotel like the little touches such as fresh milk in the room, very nice cups and glasses and lovely toiletries. Staff all very friendly and service very good.

Accommodation

The room was noisy overlooking the main street. It was austere and dark with no ambience with an uneven floor. The long lounge seat in front of the bed was most uncomfortable to sit on and a bad back disaster. However, i am delighted to say we were upgraded to a beautiful room. In fact its the best room and fab bathroom in any hotel i have stayed and i have travelled far and wide across the world. Downstairs there was a beautiful sitting area with a fire and again two lovely sitting areas in the bar again with a fire. Everywhere was very convenient, home from home..
