6/10 Good

The Borgo is situated very far from the main road, with a small scary road that we did not dare drive in the dark. There were tons of bugs, we got eaten alive our 1st time at the pool, we only stayed 20 mins. Our initial room was awful, next to reception, where groups of people hung out. But the manager allowed us to choose a better room, thankfully, as we were there for 5 nights! The restaurant staff were nice and tried hard, but the food was very limited: although it was good, there was not enough food in the morning (only one batch of eggs and bacon made, if you arrive after a group, forget getting any), the supper menu was the same every night. The location was far from most towns we wanted to visit, but overall still a nice experience. The reception staff were very nice and helpful.

Outstanding Tuscany Experience
If you are looking for the quintessential, classic experience in the heart of Tuscany, look no farther. Completely off the beaten path, this majestic 800-year-old vineyard delivers in every single way. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, especially our waiter, Eiman, who was more like a manager and adviser. The meals were fantastic. The wines were to die for, and the setting was peaceful. Highly recommended!

The hotel is an old farm, vinyard that has been converted to hotel with restaurant and wine tasting. It's located within 25-45 minutes from several wineries, castles and other old villages. The staff, especially Sabrina, was excellent.

Nice out of the way retreat with pleasant staff and good service. Just a little attention to detail like placing coffee sachets and milk joggers if providing a kettle etc in room. The only annoying thing was our room must have been next to the kitchen extraction or mains water boiler which went on all night. So not a good nights sleep had

This place was beautiful with amazing views of the vineyards and was filled with many different outdoor areas to relax and enjoy some good wine. Other amenities like the outdoor pool, tennis court, and archery were a nice bonus. The staff was super nice and helpful. We also tried a wine bath, which was a nice unique experience.

The hotel was lovely, very rustic and the views were amazing. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Definitely need a car to get there as it is a little bit out of the town centre.

Two wonderful days in a relaxed environment. Breakfast, lunches and dinners were all good along with the very very drinkable wines from their own vineyards.

Rustic charm in a secluded setting
After nearly two weeks touring Tuscany including the Palio de Siena we were ready for a few quiet nights in the country side of the Chianti region. This hotel was a great escape from the busy streets of Siena, and the staff helped make the stay even more memorable. Casa al Vento has a lot to offer for a small owner operated vineyard. There is a restaurant on site with a good breakfast, and there is a nice dinner menu offering regional selections for four courses. The staff is international, extremely helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our wishes during our stay. We took the cooking class with Chef Antonio, and front desk manager spent three hours with us to provide translation services so we could have the full benefit of the instructional class. The Chianti Classico wines produced by Casa al Vento were a great compliment to the meals we enjoyed during our stay. The FOHO reserve is recommended. Our room was a rustic two room apartment suite that was appointed in period correct furniture. There are several small courtyards and gardens around the property to escape to, and the pool offered a beautiful view over the valley and rolling hills planted with Sangiovese grapes and olive trees. There is a small gift shop on site that offers wine, olive oil, food, and beauty products. There is also an onsite spa, but we did not use their services. This is a nice place to stay in the Gaiole in Chianti region.

A hidden gem, beautiful and peaceful surroundings
This is a hidden gem of a hotel, with apartments and individual rooms made up from a collection of traditional Tuscan farm buildings. Located at the end of approx. half mile of unpaved track (yes, you are going in the right direction, don't be put off!), the hotel overlooks a valley with olive, vines and wooded hills. Very beautiful and quiet. The amenities are good, and the staff are helpful. The pool are is away from the main buildings and again has a beautiful outlook. There were other areas for archery and spa treatments, and plenty of garden with seating/loungers etc. As a business traveller, great free WiFi in the room, tea and coffee making (obvioulsy geared to the UK traveller expectation!), and a nice table and chairs area outside the room to sit and have a quiet moment in the sun. I didn't have time to do breakfast (from 8.30am is a little late when you need to get meetings), but on holiday would be fine, and didn't try the evening meals, but did take a look in the restaurant and very nice. Am planning to come back hopefully for a family vacation. Only thing to say is that it is a good 30mins driving on winding roads, from the main Florence/Arezzo motorway, which is not a problem if you are taking your time and enjoying the surroundings. Couldn't fault this hotel in anyway. Tourist tax is Euro1.50 per person (over 16yrs), per night. Just remember to have cash to pay that as it was preferred rather than credit card for some reason! CC ok to pay the room though!

This place is fantastic and the pool, after a hot & dusty ride, was amazing. Friendly staff. I loved my room. The restaurant was superb. Sitting outside in the slowly cooling evening air was delightful. Totally recommend this place. Its only a few minutes from Gaiole by car but, for a bike, it is a little bit of climbing to get to, especially fully-loaded. To bare in mind if travelling from some distance to arrive here. But this place is worth that effort.
