The ancient Greek Theatre offers a dramatic backdrop for summer performances, while Corso Umberto buzzes with high-end boutiques and outdoor cafés. Piazza IX Aprile serves up the perfect sunset spot where locals and travellers gather for aperitivo. Most accommodation feature terraces with panoramic views, though they command premium prices. The steep cobblestone streets favour walking, with shuttle buses connecting to parking areas below town.

Mazzaro's beach paradise captures Sicily's coastal magic at its finest. Crystal-clear turquoise waters lap against a pebble shoreline while dramatic limestone cliffs create a stunning natural backdrop. The iconic cable car whisks you up to Taormina in just two minutes, offering breathtaking views of the Ionian Sea. Beach clubs and natural swimming spots around Isola Bella provide perfect sunbathing spots. Upscale waterfront restaurants serve fresh seafood and Sicilian specialities on elegant sea-view terraces. Luxury hotels cascade down the cliffs with infinity pools and private beach access. The compact area is easily walkable along the waterfront promenade, though steep terrain can make some paths challenging.

Family-run trattorias serve fresh seafood and authentic Sicilian dishes, with most places closing by sunset. Accommodation range from holiday rentals to boutique hotels with sea views and terraces. The steep coastal terrain makes walking challenging but rewards with breathtaking vistas, while limited bus service connects to central Taormina.

Learn more about Taormina
Ancient Greek ruins stand sentinel above the Ionian Sea, where the Teatro Antico offers views that might make you forget there's a performance scheduled. Corso Umberto buzzes with cafes where locals debate which gelateria truly deserves your euros. Take the aerial tramway down to Isola Bella, a tiny island nature reserve where the pebbled beach demands proper footwear but rewards with crystalline waters. The Piazza IX April serves as an open-air living room where everyone gathers at sunset. After climbing narrow medieval streets, reward yourself with pasta alla Norma and cannoli that make a compelling argument against ever leaving Sicily. The San Giorgio Theatre hosts performances in a setting so intimate you'll feel part of the production.

Atlantis Bay - The Leading Hotel of the World
"While the property at Atlantis Bay has a breathtakingly beautiful, what makes this hotel special is its kind and attentive staff. I cannot praise the general manager, housekeepers and front desk enough. They genuinely go out of their way to make you happy. As for the property, you can tell they take pride in keeping the rooms clean and updated. The amenities are fantastic and the private beach is a MASSIVE plus! It’s highly recommended."
Hotel Isola Bella
"Exceptional, classic Italian beach side hotel. This is the tallest hotel in Isola Bella, and located beautifully above the beach and island. Pay the small amount extra to secure yourself a water/beach view and you will not regret it. Sunrise is a must, just open your blinds and step onto your terrace to enjoy, before going back to sleep until breakfast starts. There is a bus stop at the front of the hotel, you can wait in the shade. 200m to the steps down to the beach and mini markets with fantastic sandwiches are the same. Wow. Blown away."
Hotel Villa Paradiso
"Very nice staff. The highlight was the breakfast with Carmelo and Luca. They are the best! True professionals."
Hotel Villa Belvedere
"The staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. The location was great. Views were amazing."

Villa Sant'Andrea, A Belmond Hotel, Taormina Mare
"A marvellous stay— the attention to detail and customer service is bar none. Location superb by the beach which was private and access to cliff jumping and swimming which my teens relished. We also enjoyed the complimentary boat tour along the bay and the convenience of the shuttle into town via their sister resort. Superior quality rooms and food and amenities. Absolutely gorgeous property and cannot miss if visiting Taormina. 1000/10."

"Great location in proximity to the beach. Air conditioning was strong especially with the 100+ degree heat."
