The rooms are located above the Ivy Restaurant in Clifden's Main Road. What would have been a fantastic stay was affected by a water failure in the entire building. The leak was outside the Hotel area, so it was out of control for the Hotel Team. Yet, they handled the Situation very well.

This place was a huge disappointment. There have been some updates to the rooms but the beds were the horrible. I lay down on mine and the mattress fell through into the area where the (box springs?) should be. The mattress was supported on a sheet of some kind of thin wood that fell off the side and into the nastiest space I have ever seen in a hotel bed. There was something under there that was covered in the dirtiest fabric ticking imaginable. The center of the bed sunk down and the foot of the bed was a few inches higher than the head of the bed with a dip in the middle. The room smells a little like pet urine and, I guess, we were just overall grossed out after seeing the underneath of the beds. When we left our room for dinner, the door handle fell off. The manager first said we would need to change rooms because he had already fixed it twice but he did fix it while we were out. Maybe the owners are trying to refurbish but they needed to start with the bedding. We went down to breakfast and the buffett was actually nice. The person in charge of coffee was late to work so we didn't get our coffee until after we were finished with our food.

You check in at the restaurant in front with access to the rooms in the back of the restaurant. Friendly staff, clean room, great location right on a street with shops and restaurants. There are some stairs and no lift so may be less suited for older travelers. We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend

We waited over an hour trying to get in to get checked in. The entrance is through either the cafe or a restaurant but both were locked and closed. This was around 4:30 pm, which was supposed to be normal business hours for both. We tried knocking, calling (several times), messaging through the expedia app and directly through their email with no responses. We finally just called expedia tlbecause we already paid for this room and weren't sure if we could get refunded to find a different place. Expedia was nice and helpful and said they would reach out to them. Shortly after, they finally called me back and said they would send someone to let us in. About 10, maybe 15 minutes later, a male teenager came in and let us in, gave us a key, and showed us where our room was. Just so others know who are not traveling light, we had to climb three flights of stairs to get to our room with our luggage. Didn't know that before I booked. Also, the Expedia info says no pets allowed, but someone in an adjacent room had a dog barking all night while we were just trying to sleep off our jet lag before we moved to our castle hotel (Ballynahinch btw, awesome place). I called the number about the dog and left a voicemail. Got a call back shortly after this time, and not long after, the dog stopped barking. Upon check out, we literally just dropped our key in a basket and left. No paperwork coming in or leaving, no showing IDs, no receptionist at all. So weird. I wouldn't stay again.
