The hotel is beautiful and definitely worthy of its 5-stars.
The hotel staff is so lovely, welcoming and friendly and the nicest experience I’ve had across many hotels in Indonesia. The pool is lovely, though facing East, meaning there is little sun in the afternoon - just something to be aware of when planning your day.
Spa is wonderful, the hotel is peaceful and relaxing, and the restaurant serves great food including a super nice breakfast buffet.
Be aware that getting a Grab/Gojek from the hotel is nearly impossible because of the remote location. Arrange transfers with local drivers (car). However, from Ubud to the hotel it’s definitely worth the 50+ minute scooter drive through small towns with temples, jungle and lush banana plantations.
Suggestions for improvement: 1) installing a proper treadmill in the gym - as the mechanical one isn’t easy to operate, and even as a runner, I eventually gave up, as didn’t want to risk it. 2) I could tell from walking over the (stone) floor in the room just few times, that it’s not particularly clean, my feet getting dirty in no time. 3) The free shuttle service is really great, but would have been even better if there was a later return from Ubud back to the hotel. 4) Rooms are advertised as sound proof, but I could still hear my neighbor’s TV.
But overall a wonderful stay, definitely worth it and I would come back. The value for money is incredibly good.
