Diputación de Rincón de San Ginés
Rincón de San Ginés gives you the best of both watery worlds with its unique position between the Mediterranean Sea and Mar Menor lagoon. Golf enthusiasts swing clubs at La Manga Club while nature lovers explore the stunning trails of Calblanque Regional Park. Beach hoppers can bounce between the calm waters of Mar de Cristal and the pristine sands of Calblanque Beach. Seafood restaurants dish up fresh caldero rice with Mar Menor prawns, perfect after a day of kitesurfing or sailing. Accommodation ranges from beachfront hotels to apartment complexes with sea views. A car hire is your best bet for exploring this coastal paradise since public transit options are limited.

Cabo de Palos
Cabo de Palos delights visitors with its dual personality as working fishing village and seaside getaway. The iconic lighthouse watches over dramatic cliffs while hidden coves and crystal-clear waters beckon swimmers and divers. World-class diving sites at Islas Hormigas Marine Reserve showcase underwater wonders, and coastal paths wind between rocky headlands with views of both the Mediterranean Sea and Mar Menor lagoon. Fresh seafood dominates waterfront restaurants where local caldero rice dishes star on menus. While the compact village centre is easily walkable, having a hire car provides the flexibility to explore nearby beaches. Summer evenings bring a relaxed vibe perfect for sunset strolls along the marina promenade.

Cartagena Casco
Cartagena Casco reveals 3,000 years of history through its remarkably preserved Roman ruins and Punic walls. Stroll along cobblestone streets to discover the ancient Roman Theatre carved into the hillside, overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean harbour. The Naval Museum and Roman Theatre Museum showcase the city's rich maritime heritage, while modernist architecture adds unexpected flair to this walkable district. Harbour restaurants serve fresh seafood and traditional Spanish tapas as you watch boats glide into port. Boutique hotels in restored historic buildings offer rooftop terraces with sweeping views. The entire district is easily explored on foot, with the waterfront promenade providing a perfect route for soaking in sea breezes and sunset views.

La Azohia
La Azohía's peaceful beaches and crystal-clear Mediterranean waters create the perfect escape from crowded tourist spots. Playa de La Chapineta and Playa de San Ginés offer pristine swimming spots with stunning views of limestone cliffs. The historic Santa Elena Tower stands as a silent witness to the area's rich past, while coastal paths invite you to explore Cape Tiñoso's dramatic scenery. The village embraces traditional Spanish rhythms with family-run chiringuitos serving just-caught seafood and simple tapas bars where locals gather. Most visitors stay in holiday rentals or small pensiones with basic amenities focused on beach access. A hire car is essential as public transport is limited, but you can easily walk the entire village in 15 minutes.

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My stay at Hotel Izán Cavanna was excellent. The hotel is in a unique and beautiful location, with stunning view of Mar Menor. Being able to enjoy the beach just steps away from the hotel made the experience truly special. The room was comfortable, clean, and had beautiful views. The facilities were well maintained, and the pool area was a great place to relax after a day of exploring La Manga. The breakfast should be better with more variety . The staff were friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. What I loved most was the family-friendly atmosphere. The hotel is perfect for families with kids, thanks to its safe beach access, spacious facilities, kid-friendly pool areas, and convenient location. It made traveling with my daughter easy, relaxing, and enjoyable. One of the most memorable moments of my entire trip to Spain happened here. From the hotel, I was able to watch the most beautiful sunset of all my vacation in Spain. The views over the Mar Menor were absolutely breathtaking and created memories that I will never forget. 4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Cartagena
- Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly time to visit Cartagena is in January, November, and December, when hotel prices are generally lower. For a truly enriching experience, a stay of at least 3 to 4 days is recommended to delve into the city’s remarkable landmarks and cultural heritage. During this time, you can explore historical sites such as the port, archaeological ruins, and the marina, all of which offer great value for money. Additionally, you might enjoy a relaxing day at the beach or indulge in local treats. With careful planning, your visit could provide an unforgettable experience on a budget.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: Hotels.com offers travellers opportunities to save on Cartagena hotels through its DealsOpens in a new window section, where you may discover discounted rates. By exploring the Last-Minute Deals area, you could find attractive offers on hotels near your travel dates. Additionally, you’re more likely to see competitive prices via the Smart Shopping tool, a comparison feature available on the app that helps you compare hotel prices and amenities. Stay updated with email alerts or push notifications to ensure you don't miss any flash sales or special last-minute promotions.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Therefore, being flexible with your travel dates could help you find a more favourable rate for your stay in a hotel in Cartagena. For those seeking something distinctive, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised experience and potentially better value. When you make a booking through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If it happens to be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could offer a more appealing rate.
- Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive; however, with Cartagena's outstanding public transport connections, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
