Dirty and strange- is this really a Best Western??
What in the heck is this place? It cannot be an actual Best Western. We checked in on the weekend and the check-in desk was closed so we had to go to an adjacent hotel (about a 5 min walk away) to their BAR to check in. Once we picked up the key (which was a regular key mind you, not a key card) we went back to go up to our room. Our room was at the back of the hotel. The flooring and carpet in the main area looked recently replaced, but the walls looked like trash (really need a paint job). It was dark and scary. No lights were on and quite frankly it seemed abandoned. No person was at the front desk or even in the hotel it seemed. We finally found our room at the back near a stairwell. Inside, the room has a rather ICKY carpet which I cannot tell if it was dirty or just foot patterns. The bed had hairs, either human pubic or dog hair, it was very questionable. All of the beds had hair (the double and the single one). Could we call for help? Prob not, the only person monitoring anything was the bar tender from the walk down the street. The beds also left much to be desired. We cleaned the room ourselves and found dirt everywhere. Loads of it. On doors, on common surfaces. Gross. We left the room cleaner than we found it and checked out promptly the next morning. It also had ceiling bugs. I would not stay here again. Parking was also a joke as the "lot" was totally filled by 7pm. We parked on the street then moved the iced- up car in the morning.

Overall nice but...
The area is Paradise..The BW hotel room was very small and we had to spend most of our time in the balcony which was a blessing. The shower had a problem and on wkend no maintenance so I had to do it myself For this price we deserved more value .

Probably the best hotel in Bad Durrheim, however it is a 3 star at best. I got a VERY GOOD price from expedia for a junior suite, and the price more then made up for any shortcomings. Pros were the location, and the breakfast. Cons: Very small ,slow elevator which did not go to top floor...so you had to carry your luggage up. No AC. The hotel has been recently upgraded, however the workmanship, and maintenance was poor. Cracked tiles in bath, electrical tape on light cords, wires hanging out of wall, burned out lights, flaking paint, and appliances that did not work (perhaps that's why I got the great price). Thin walls with a lot of noise from other rooms. Breakfast was very good, but the early bird gets the worm here...if you came in late the buffet was picked over. All in all I would return
