4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Sydney

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Sydney is from May to July, when hotel prices are typically lower. For an enriching experience that allows you to discover the city’s historic landmarks, cultural gems, and stunning architecture, a stay of at least 3 to 4 days is recommended. During this time, you can explore attractions such as the iconic Sydney Opera House, the bustling shopping districts, beautiful gardens, and engaging museums. This budget-friendly approach ensures you can enjoy the city’s vibrant dining scene and scenic ferry rides without breaking the bank, making it great value for money.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To explore hotel deals in Sydney, visit the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted hotel options as your travel date approaches. To stay informed about flash sales and special promotions, consider enabling email alerts or push notifications. Additionally, you can utilise the Smart Shopping tool via the app to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're more likely to find great savings. With these features, you'll be promptly updated on any price drops or availability changes, making it easier to secure a last-minute getaway.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate due to various factors, including the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Therefore, being flexible with your travel dates may help you find a more affordable stay in a Sydney hotel. If you’re in search of something distinctive, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised experience and potentially better value. When you make a booking through Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher end, we may suggest alternative dates that could lead to a more favourable rate.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive; however, with Sydney's superb public transport connections, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even some lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money available. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
