8/10 Very good

Hotel With View Over Bad Lauterberg
I enjoyed my two night stay at this hotel. Single rooms in many hotels are often cramped afterthoughts, but I was pleased with mine at this one. It had a window wall with balcony looking at a nice view, a comfortable sitting area with a full size couch and a comfortable bed. The room was excellent value. Breakfast was inexpensive but very limited in choice. The restaurant's evening buffet and alacarte menu are also very limited, so I think it better to try a restaurant in town for supper. The staff was friendly, parking is easy and the extra charge for my dog was very reasonable. There is a five Euro charge for a bathrobe if you want one to lounge by the pool. There are several interesting hiking trails nearby, especially the one beginning from the unicorn cave (Einhornhöhle) to the castle ruin, Sharzfels, where there is a pleasant cafe with a great view.
