We were on a road trip and looking for somewhere unique to stay that wasn't a cookie-cutter interstate chain hotel. The McCleary Hotel fit the bill. It's a charmingly weird old place with lots of character. The room was comfortable, the shared bathrooms were clean, and the staff was nice. Can't ask for more than that.
We spent the evening chillin' by their gas fire pit in the backyard, and appreciated the coffee and pastries in the morning.
If you're looking for a luxury hotel with all the high-end amenities, look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a genuinely unique place to stay and enjoy some living history, this is your spot.

The bathrooms are shared. If it is busy, this might make it awkward to use.
This is a historic hotel. Marvelous building. I do not an ADA space, but if you do, this might be a difficult visit.
Great location for a planned event.
Couple who own it are fantastic people.

My son and I stayed here for the weekend of the Olympus rally and it was a good location for that. The old historic hotel definitely had a cool vibe, and the owner was friendly. The bathrooms are in the hallway like most hotels of this era, but we knew that going in.

The owners were very helpful and knowledgeable about where to go for hikes and to see the sites. We are in our 60's so when we walked in and saw all the antiques, books, and board games in the main area, it was a blast from the past. This is not a modern hotel but a place to truly unwind and unplug. My husband and I took a ParkerBrothers game up to our room because there's no television. I loved it!
The dining area was beautifully appointed, The owners were weeks away from the kitchen up and running, so we had to eat locally. They provided coffee and pastries in the morning, and had a Brita available to fill our glasses and take to our room.
We were given a room at the very back of the third floor, farthest away from the bathroom on that floor (there were bathrooms down the stairs on the second floor that were probably closer, but I didn't want to do that in the middle of the night - I could have mentioned it to the owner at the time.) I imagine it was meant to be the most quiet and private room, which it was. The antique dresser was gorgeous and had local history. The bed was small for 2 people but super comfortable. There was a small porcelain sink for us to brush teeth and we were glad to have it for a quick cleanup after a hot day. There is a small closet with hangers. For us, we loved the age of the house and the excellent condition of the wooden doors, floors, and the property in general. Kudos to the owners!

Don’t think twice about booking this unique and charming hotel. The shared bathrooms are a non issue as the pleasant experience here far outweighs walking down a hall to use the bathroom. The owners could not have been more accommodating and just plain nice, and the throwback feel to hotels of old just made it memorable. We’d book here again in an instant.

This hotel is a really interesting and comfortable hotel built in 1912 by a lumber Barron. It is being restored by a really nice couple, Lorena and Matthew, who we much enjoyed talking to. They were very friendly. Thanks a lot Lorena and Matthew! We particularly enjoyed playing dominoes on the comfortable lawn and looking at all the beautiful trees and green grass.

Pure vintage hotel. Matt and Lorena are doing a great job in bringing the hotel (and future social 3rd place) back to life since its COVID era closure. We plan on returning to stay again and see further progress.

It might b better described as a family home rather than a hotel. Certain "historical restored" features did not make this stay restful. I wont return if I have business to conduct in the area.

Highly recommend this hotel for peace and relaxation. There were only a few people staying there during my visit (mid-week) and I pretty much had the place to myself. Restroom in the common area was not an issue at all. Bed and bedding was very comfortable. Loved the setting and decor. Owners have done a great job fixing it up in the short time that it's been open and will continue to expand amenities and make improvements.

Soo cute! I loved the whole vibe of the place. The shared bathrooms weren’t my fav, but we were fortunate to have the place to ourselves the first night. I do wish the rooms had better ventilation, but it’s an older building so they worked with what they had. I definitely would stay again.
