Sad little place on low end of price scale. You get what you pay for. Tiny room ( bed only accessible from one side and head against refrigerator so all night heard motor running), key to outside door would not work, no coffee or hair dryer in room, limited desk hours so couldn’t get dryer in morning when found none on room, limited hot water. Was clean and good check-in person.

You get what you pay for; the room was very basic but clean. They do use heavily scented cleaning products- beware if you’re sensitive. We had a king sized bed and it was VERY comfortable. The propert is just off the beaten path enough to be very quiet, we had a great nights sleep!

The couple in the office were very accommodating and helpful. I only rated the amenities low because there really aren't any. But the place served my needs perfectly. I got a good night's sleep before the Three Lakes Triathlon.

6/10 Good

Spartan is the word. In every sense. The beds were comfortable, the A/C worked flawlessly, and the towels were nice. The Orca gives everything it has- from so little to give. The beds are in the middle of the room- and I mean the middle. No headboards and the A/C units are inches from one’s head. I did not find that an issue. The construction barracks vibe is strong, highlighted by the red Formica and wood paneled walls. The staff was excellent. Accommodating, friendly and eager to please. I’d stay at the Orca again- and that’s saying something considering I’ve stayed before.

Older place but was very clean and the bed was comfortable, which is all I needed. Excellent price for the area. I was overjoyed to find something in my budget and close to the ferry since I needed to book last minute and didn’t have a car. There is also a grocery store right next door that is cheaper than the ones on the main strip. The lady at check in was very nice and helpful with everything. Even though they don’t have “bell service” she let me store my luggage in a secure area after check out so I didn’t have to find a locker in town during my whale watch. Seemed like the place was getting some upgrades under the new management. I look forward to seeing them next time I come to Friday Harbor!

Decided to visit the island last- minute and my usual hotel didn't have any vacancies. Gave this place a try and I'm so glad I did! It's located in a quiet and safe part of the island, minutes away from the action at Friday Harbor. Our king room was clean, spacious and cool after a whole day of playing in the sun. Highly recommend this no-frills but high value inn!

8/10 Very good

My wife and I stayed at the Orca Inn for 5 days while we were visiting the island for tourism and a wedding. The rooms are a bit small for two people, but if you are in town mostly to spend time outside of your hotel, they are very good value for Friday Harbor. The room and building in general were well maintained and clean and the staff was very helpful. One tip, if you need a hairdryer or an iron, ask the front desk!

2/10 Poor

If you ever wanted to stay on a short cot in the closet of an army barracks for the night, this is your spot. What an absolutely miserable experience. I searched Friday Harbor for a Queen room. This comes up. It’s not. It’s a lie. It’s a Full and they don’t say it (but they admitted it upon checkout). It was “clean” where you could see it but the hammered mattress cover looks like it’s been in the parking lot for the last two months. It goes great with the cigarette burns in the carpet from 1981. The full-size taco bed was tiny. On top of that, there’s no headboard. On top of that, they put the head of the bed in the middle of the room and not against the wall so my feet hang off one side and our pillows fall off the other. On top of that, it leaves your head two feet away from the AC unit that’s louder than a jet plane running in front of you when you’re on the tarmac. Not only is it excruciatingly loud, it blasts the cold air straight at your head (AND NEVER TURNS OFF AG 73° BECAUSE IT’S SO INSUFFICIENT). After hours of this and no sleep, we got up, I moved the stupid desk, flipped the mattress around to make the pillow side near the wall, and slid the entire bed up against the entry door wall. *That kept the pillows on the taco but blocked the door in case of fire. The bathroom was clean and the grounds were clean. The sink is in a different room than the bathroom. I’d hate to see the lab results from the bathroom doorknob. This was an $18 room for homeless people. 👎
