Ok for a hostel
It was an easy stay, cheap, and clean. Just keep in mind it’s right above a loud bar that plays music til midnight. Other than that it was a fine stay.

Too noisy
I arrived, not sure to be in an hostel or a bar... return outside to check if there was another door for the hostel. Return inside and the waitress at the bar confirmed that was also the hostel. She give me the keys after I paid for the dorm. I went upstairs to my room, the music noise was directly under my room. I was too exhausted, I finally felt asleep.

Be honest and ye shall b rewarded
Well I was late coming in but clicked w staff right away.Great location close to water and all.just being in that huge old building. Circa 1867 was like being in a time machine,The pub was great and the live shows fantastic .the bed s were clean ...rooms ...kitchen great .I could c more potential if the put in a full service restaurant they r ready have a great patio so it would work.I noticed a huge empty wall in the pub and offered to paint a mural I exchange for beer ....they will think about it,I've painted walls all around the wall and wanted to use a Bigfoot theme like in the ancient Forrest looking at u and inviting all to join in the mystery that is Canada's only real actually north Americas only only rain Forrest ...just a little cooler than the Amazon .ok all I wish u a great adventure staying at the Cambie pub and hostel in Nanaimo Bc where they make great NY SLICES!!!!

I stayed one night at Nanaimo Cambie Hostel. It did the job it was suppose to, it put me up for a night. I checked in late on a Saturday. The only downside that I experienced was on Sunday morning. I needed to check out early (7.40am) and there was no one awake to take my key and return my deposit to me. I ended up leaving the key under the door and writing an email. I'm waiting for a reply.

Review
I personally enjoyed my stay at the Cambie Hostel. Its in downtown and close to malls, banks, shopping centres, etc. U can find just evrything around this hostel. Initially i had booked for 5 days but i loved the place so much that I extended my stay in this hotel for another 4-5 days. There is a kitchen provided by the Cambie's where you can cook some food for yourself. The bartender and the housekeeping staff are great, friendly and co-operative.
The only flaw i found was it gets too loud during the night as there is a bar downstairs and they have live performances so till 1am the music is quite loud... Rest evrything is perfect...Loved the place very much...

Not recommended, one of the worst places
Bed bugs all over the place, it is a disaster. Wierd locals living in the hostel, sleeping with the bedbugs. And the rooms are among the worst I have ever seen, and I have been traveling all over the world..
