The hotel is lovely and the staff who greeted us were kind and accommodating. However, since we were the only guests for breakfast, she asked if it would be okay to take late checkout and skip breakfast. We agreed, but only because we felt embarrassed to say no.
We book all our stays based entirely on breakfast being included in the room rate, and this room was more than twice the price of others in the area. We travel a lot, and review a lot of properties. Our regular rating system allots two out of five stars for a hotel’s breakfast, so as good as the property may be it can never get more than 3 stars without breakfast. Had we known there would be no breakfast, we would have booked a less expensive property and saved ourselves $200 US dollars. I’m sure it would have been at least 4 stars under different circumstances.
