I visited Tunis as a solo female Muslim traveller. I did meet local friends while there, but part of the time I was walking around on my own. I found Tunis to be safe and friendly. English is not widely spoken but you can get by with French. Love it!

Things seem to close quite early in the surrounding area (medina) so it can seem quite scary walking back to the hotel in the evening as a solo female (I made sure not to stay out too late), but having said that, I never felt unsafe.

It's a beautiful country to visit a lots of old history and civilization
"Very good condition with all modern comforts, beautifully themed around antiquity with tasteful and well-done decoration. However, there were long hairs on the floor and in the bathtub, but that’s secondary compared to the impeccable quality of service. The breakfast was varied and generous. A very pleasant stay — I highly recommend it.”"
"I had a lovely stay at Hotel Suisse! The staff especially were so lovely and helpful and the location was very convenient. I would definitely recommend!"
"Some of the rooms have no AC and Tunis is very hot. The staff got confused prepayment with hotels.com and they charged me 50 TND more because the room was extended prepaid but they dont see it."
