Really beautiful place to stay with the comfiest beds and tasteful decor throughout! Lovely consistent hot water and delicious breakfast with fresh juice (the raspberry was delicious), yoghurt and made-to-order omelettes as a nice extra touch. It was perfect for me as I’m gluten intolerant so there was loads of choice! The kitchen is also huge and lovely and the hostel location, whilst 10 mins walk from the centre, isn’t a big deal at all! There are also free bicycles for rent, though nab one early as only half come with locks!
The only things stopping this from getting a perfect 10/10 score from me were small things that are very easily fixed. They double booked my room so had to downgrade me, but that wasn’t a big deal for me as I was travelling solo. They also had construction work going on incl cutting cement blocks in the yard when I was there. It was really horrible to listen to and went on for hours (around 12noon to 7pm), spoiling my plans for a couple of afternoons where I hoped to chill in the hostel! I spoke to the owner when I saw him, explaining that it prompted me to consider moving hostels and he offered to cancel the work the next day, which was a relief. The hostel would also benefit from some fans in the room, as I was really hot with the windows wide open. Final thing is that the kitchen cooking facilities can only be used from 5pm so this may be an issue for some (it wasn’t really for me).
