Nice staff, bad accommodations
The staff was nice, but the room didn’t have a microwave, the refrigerator is only big enough to hold candy bars and not even a half gallon of milk, the drain plug in the bathtub didn’t work so I couldn’t give my daughter a bath like she wanted, the chrome cast option to stream content to the tv didn’t work. The ice machine is only on one side of the building which is a far walk if your on the other side like I was. A can of soda is $5. The door also doesn’t seal well so there’s an actual breeze through the door frame. The couch was so firm that it hurt to sit on it for too long. There’s also no ventilation in the bathroom. I used the bathroom on the 4th floor so I didn’t have to in my room. The hot tub was okay but if you go by the corner of it, there was a horrible smell that smelled like old thrown out seafood or something. There’s also no lighting in the pool and hot tub area after dark (at least while I was there). The pool has a light inside of it, but nothing else in the area. Will definitely not stay here again.

Needs a little time to sort itself out
I’m in the area a lot. The hotel is newly remodeled so it was very clean and smelled faintly of new furniture and paint, in the best way, much preferable to some of the musty damp I’ve had closer to Pacific Grove or shoddy new construction in Marina. Convenient location near Hwy 1 and the beach. However many of the amenities are not finished (sauna and cold plunge tubs), available (yoga is seasonal) or WiFi buggy (e-bikes). Parking was expensive considering the relatively secluded area and more in line with the Marriott than the rest of the hotel’s “amenities”.

A lovely experience
We love this Hotel. The renovation was excellent. I would have given 5 stars except that our room was directly under the lounge area and the movement of chairs above us was very loud. We were woken up early in the morning by chairs/tables scraping along the floor upstairs. Maybe simple pads under the chair and table legs would be a simple solution.The staff took note of this problem. The staff was friendly and professional. We loved the fire pits and choices of seating areas along the walkway. Of course the view is fabulous. The restaurant with its amazing view and excellent food is very special. We recommend this hotel and will stay again,( just in a different room!)

Check in was extremely slow as only one staff member was dealing with all the arrivals. Our room was not as expected - overlooking the car park, dark and small. Reception (eventually) changed our room to an ocean view room - for which we paid a bit more. All other staff were excellent and the ambiance of the hotel was beachy, relaxed and pleasant. Lobby area overlooking the beach and bay was gorgeous.
