Classic style grand hotel in a great condition. Dormero is renovating the rooms with respect for the heritage. I lived it. Friendly staff too. If anything, I would change the company outfit of the staff. Great for most other Dormero locations, but misplaced for the grand hotel vibe of this particular hotel. I guess not having them wear the red braces would be a good start.

Seemed really grand on entering but on closer inspection was quite tired. Original room was lovely however on noticing the balcony door didn't lock and had several ways to access it I requested a different room. The man on Reception was Ok about me wanting a different room but seemed nonchalant about the none locking door. As a single female traveller I found it odd that having an unlocked bedroom door was OK?? Overall an OK stay, big room but tired and some maintenance and cleaning issues. Was a convenient location for the local parkrun and a nice town.

Room was comfortable & clean but in dire need of an update. Cooling fan did not work, in fact heated the room. Flooring chipped & in need of repair. Shower screen broken so water leaked everywhere; bath plug did not work. Lampshade broken. Lights from the car park shone right into the room. No staff available from 10pm until 1pm so could not properly address anything. Free drinks in the room were much welcomed.

This was our second stay at Dormero. We love the interesting building and large rooms. Everything is very clean and the marble covered bathrooms give it a luxurious feel. The manager is friendly and everyone speaks English so no problems with communication

The reception desk is not open until 1pm which meant with an earlier arrival we were not able to leave our bags before check in. However we found the hotel location to both the old town and the main station ideal. There is a large aquarium with tropical fish in the dining room, an unusual but interesting feature.

1. There is no-one at reception until the afternoon, so it is impossible to reach anyone if there is a problem, or even if you want to check out manually and pay the bill. 2. The toilet seat in my bathroom was loose. 3. No-one came to clean the room before I returned at around 2.30 p.m. I then saw three people in a room down the corridor and asked them to come and clean. They came. A man was in charge of two girls who were obviously learning. One simply folded the duvet and put it back on the bed. I asked him to straighten the bottom sheet, which he then did. In the bathroom, the towels were changed, but they did not leave a bath mat and did not even attempt to tidy up. 4. The breakfast was of a poorer standard than before. Previously there had been smoked salmon, now there was none. The orange juice machine had run out and there were no more “English Breakfast” tea bags. The woman who runs the breakfast room was nowhere to be seen. The scrambled egg was unmentionable and, whereas you could previously order a 4 minute boiled egg, they now simply have hard boiled eggs available. All this is a pity, because the rooms are still the nicest in Halle, even though they need a little updating with the electrical fittings. If the service were aby good, this could still be a 4 star hotel, but, as it is, it is probably 2 stars.

Vorab: Gibt es Mitte Oktober keine Heizmöglichkeit im Hotelzimmer, ist alles andere zweitrangig. Am Heizungs/Lüftungsdisplay Aufkleber "Bitte nicht benutzen" (hatte auch keine Funktion). Thermostat des Badheizkörpers nur mit der Hand aufgeschraubt, also auch dieser Heizkreis o.F. Zuvor machten wir uns mit dem freundlichen Mitarbeiter auf die Suche nach einem Zimmer, das gebuchtem entspricht - 40qm und Badewanne, letztere gibt es nicht. Fürchterlich knallend-aufspringende Türen (Schlafzimmer, Bad im Zimmer 503) rundeten das Bild nach unten ab. - Lobenswert die Freundlichkeit der Mitarbeiter und die Sauberkeit ringsum.
