In Fujinomiya City, which spreads out at the southwestern foot of Mt. Fuji, the highest peak in Japan, you can see the magnificent Mt. Fuji from almost the entire city. Standing at an altitude of 2,400 metres, Fujinomiyaguchi 5th Station is the highest of all the 5th Stations and attracts many climbers every year during the summer hiking season.

As well as visiting highlights such as Shiraito no Taki waterfall and the Mt. Fuji Hongu Sengen Taisha shrine, there are plenty of outdoor experiences to try. You can have a go at paragliding, hang gliding, trekking, and rafting on the Fuji River, which is one of the three major rapids in Japan. There are many camping grounds centred around the plain of Asagiri Kogen, so you can immerse yourself in nature from morning to night. If you're coming by car, we recommend taking the 34.5-kilometre-long Mt. Fuji Skyline, which connects Fujinomiya City and Gotemba City. This road has spectacular views of Mt. Fuji and enables you to drive through the mountain climbing section all the way to the 5th Station of Fujinomiyaguchi, the highest point in Japan that is accessible by car.
