Friendly staff
It was fine. Bed was comfortable. My only complaint was that weekend breakfast didn't start until 0700 vs 0600 on week days. In my opinion, breakfast should be 0600 everyday to accommodate early risers on weekends as well as weekdays.

Stay was okay. Although it pet friendly, that was the reason why I went with this hotel. Breakfast was okay - you have to get there early to get the waffles or the French toast. Room was basic, but what was annoying was the drainage on the sink and the tubs. Clogged up sinks and bath tubs to shower and this needs to be addressed with maintenance and plumbing to get all rooms pipes checked out. Other than that I would not want to stay here again only due to that plumbing issue. I would find another place to stay even if it was a cheaper hotel just as long as the sinks and tubs drain properly.

Dated
The hotel is dated, not what I would expect from La Quinta. The toilet did not flush well. Had to flush twice just for a piece of toilet paper I used to blow my nose. And there was really no place to charge my phone. Had to use an outlet in the bathroom. But the room was clean. It could just use a remodel.

First, they gave us room that was still some belongings, It was on the 4th floor , we have walked back to the front desk again and my mom was old. The sink is clogging up, we need to pull manually the stopper to drain the water. One of our doors, it so hard to open, we always used full force just to open the door.

You get what you pay for
The room smelled terrible (non-smoking) and the bathroom was dingy, old, and in bad shape. At one point they turned off the water so nobody could use the sink or take showers. The beds were uncomfortable and pillows were the size of throw pillows. Being the start of summer, this was one of the better deals for a family of 4 but I guess you get what you pay for.

Better Than Other Local Hotels
The property is aged and needs renovation for most items...paint, outside flooring, pool area, etc. Room was fine, except the bathroom was very small and the tub needs to be replaced. Wall sockets were indented into the wall and need to be repaired/replaced...Room 416. Staff was professional and friendly. Easy access to the freeway. There were lots of dogs...one guest had three and they all barked all the time. There should be a limit to the number of animals allowed. Breakfast was still "to go", which seems odd considering most hotels now have returned to full breakfasts. Housekeeping was non-existent unless specifically requested. Not sure why the cost of rooms has increased exponentially when services and breakfasts have gone backwards. Regardless, given the cost of rooms in San Diego, this La Quinta wasn't overpriced.
