Bangkok Rama is not your typical room at a hotel experience. Our room was actually a cottage which sat some distance off the main road. It was very quiet with a nice garden area and nice swimming pool. The only downfall is the distance to the main street may be difficult for someone with a walking disability.

Enjoyable stay at the friendly Bangkok Rama Hotel.
Bangkok Rama Hotel is set in beautiful gardens and with many small streams filled with golden Koi carp and small waterfalls here and there. The cottages are very pretty and the swimming pool was a good size about 22 metres long by 10 metres for leisurely swimming and very clear. A lovely quiet place to relax and enjoy in the day and pretty at night with a variety of lights. The restaurant breakfast provided a good variety of tropical fruits / salads/ cereal / toast and local thai food.
Near the hotel are two good modern shopping centres and a wide variety of Thai street food are very reasonable prices.
The hotel staff were excellent, very friendly, always willing to help no matter the time.
My hotel room was very large with a King size bed, cable TV , excellent free wi fi, fridge and comfortable chairs to sit on and relax. The bathroom and shower was fine and the cleaners were very efficient and always left two bottles of water and soft drinks each day for the fridge. Overall, I had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday at the Bangkok Rama Hotel.

Negatives outweigh the price.
I hate to negative and I’ll try to be fair. Our stay was adequate for the price we paid. Hindsight would tell me that one night was enough here let alone 3. Just know that anything I don’t mention could be a positive aspect. We wanted to stay here for it’s closeish proximity to the weekend markets. Every taxi never had a clue where it was even with every way you possibly show the address. Most hotels have some kind of reputation here but this one doesn’t. Our room was huge great size but it was advertised as being a king and a queen bed (executive suite)but had only a king and a single be, meant we had to fight over which bed we’d take. The air conditioner was old and only had one temp setting which wasn’t enough to keep the room cool. Hot restless sleeps ensued.Decor every is old and tired, a section of our wall had the paper ripped off. First day we had cold shower as the heater wasn’t working the pressure was little more than a dribble. All remotes had expired batteries in them. There was one ceiling fluorescent light for the entire room. Breakfast was piss poor, all the “hot” foods were in the proper serving dishes but weren’t ignited to keep food warm. Everything was cold and oily, and cereals were stale in their jars. Pool was miles from the hotel itself with no shading so made it very unappealing to combat the heat. Positives were desk staff, quietness from main road and price. For a similar price I’ve had much better stays in Bangkok.

Not as advertised
No gym or spa as advertised. Nice staff. Ok breakfast. Near nothing but the airport. Taxi drivers didn't want to drive to the area because it was too far away from shopping or busy areas.

Retreat in the city
Stayed in the bungalows not the actual hotel, which was like an urban oasis. Gardens all around the little duplex units with frogs singing you to sleep at night. We stayed in the rainy season, so lots of thunder storms to enjoy from a covered porch if you're into storms. These units had small kitchens with a refrigerator and hot plate and electric kettle. Hotel staff are lovely friendly people but many don't speak English. Learn a little Thai before you go!

Value for money
The hotel is located away from tourist areas but is a nice comfortable and quite place to be based. Good access to shopping centres. Although the cottages are old and need refurbishing they are clean and well serviced.

Very basic.
The room was clean and large but very basic, very dated. The mattress on the bed was not a mattress at all but a large plastic base which was very hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. The sheet was very thin ahd it came off during the night making you feel that you were sleeping on a old fashioned waiting room plastic sofa.

Below average accommodation for the price
Location: not too close to airport or city center so not ideal.
Cleanliness & comfort: similar to a 1 or 2-star hotel.
