Bootham tavern. York. 10 out of 10
Great B&B. Cosy room, excellent breakfast and welcoming pub downstairs. Would stay again but I’d book independently as YOU, HOTELS.COM did not pass on my payment to the Bootham and YOU told the Bootham I was 2 persons and needed to be charged double for breakfasts! I had to prove I’d paid for my stay when I arrived which made me feel very uncomfortable and I hold YOU, HOTELS.COM entirely responsible and in no way am I annoyed with the Bootham B&B. They were brilliant at resolving the mix up which was 100% caused by YOU, HOTELS.COM. It’s put me off booking with YOU ever again.

Lovely and lively tavern
A lovely tavern with good music and a cheerful atmosphere. The room was a good size and nicely decorated. The staff were friendly and the breakfast delicious. We've been to York a few times to stay over and this is now our favorite. Will definitely be back!

Great Stay - Central Location
Great location, not too far from the train station and central to the city centre. Excellent live band on the Friday night and to top it all, a superb breakfast!

No breakfast because the woman was working by herself. Check in couldn’t happen til Dillon arrived because I don’t know why.

We originally had a deluxe double however on check in realised it didn't have a shower, was a bit misleading on the hotel pages as it says 'bath or shower' so could have been a bit clearer. However we spoke to the staff and they swapped our room so it turned out fine :) The hotel is in a lovely location, very short walk to the centre so nice and peaceful

Brilliant location, near major attractions and transport options. The hotel room was lovely but a bit of a climb up the stairs! Friendly staff and great facilities

Nice room and breakfast. Very close to the centre. Water pressure was a bit variable in the shower, but overall a very pleasant stay. Thank you.

4/10 Fair

The housekeeping was none existent, spider webs in the room very narrow stairs to rooms with a maze of doors. Very noisey hearing people leaving as well as noise form the pub and band.

Very friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble. The English breakfasts were well-cooked, served with a smile and piping hot. It felt like stepping back in time and very traditionally 'British'. I'm so glad I stayed in an everyday and friendly pub rather than an upmarket and modern hotel.

I called in around 10.30am on the day of my stay to see if I could leave my bags but the room was ready and I was allowed an early check-in. This was great as it left the whole day to head out. Nice, warm welcome from friendly staff. My room was at the top and back of the pub, so it was quiet. The room had everything you'd need and was a good size and decorated in a lovely wall covering showing St Mary's Abbey (also the name of the room) My second visit here in two months and it's safe to say that I'll be back again.

6/10 Good

This property is very reasonably priced and is an excellent location. The staff is helpful and friendly. On the downside there are steep stairs up to the rooms and no lift. Window wouldnt stay open , it was very stuffy so we had to fashion our own prop stick to get air. No ceiling fan as advertised.Bathroom was clean but walls in the bedroom area were filthy. Friday night was a floor shaking 70"s tribute band until 11:30-12:00 which was fine but Saturday night was a poor ,loud band until midnight (like terrible karioke. ) Not sure I'd recommend this place without mentioning those things. Was surprised to see others giving a 10.

Fabulous spot. Lovely staff. Just be aware it is loud with traffic until later, didn’t affect us but just a heads up. Super convenient and close to all York is about. Bonus if you have a car, there is a parking lot directly behind the tavern.

Mr and Mrs Nelson
The Bootham Tavern was a very good location for the city. The Staff were lovely and polite. The Breakfast was a bargain. Only downside was the radiator in the bathroom was constantly on with no thermostat to turn it off and the summer temp was 20 plus degrees outside so difficult to sleep as it was boiling in the room. Other than that we enjoyed our stay

2/10 Poor

The pub had nosey live music both Friday and Saturday night so I booked out Saturday morning but Expedia would only refund me one nights accomodation instead of 2. The main road also had noisey traffic all night without double glazed windows over the front.
