"I liked the concept of this hotel and the service. Had a minor issue upon check in and the young man named Benjamin handled the situation very well turning my experience instead of a negative into a positive one, even though he did nothing wrong to cause the issue in the first place."

Mondrian Bordeaux Les Carmes

Mondrian Bordeaux Les Carmes

8/10 Good
"The Mondrian is a modern, upscale hotel just outside Bordeaux’s historic center. The location is not premier, but the old city is easily accessible by car or bicycle. The hotel preserves its historical façade, but don’t expect a French château experience. Behind it is a contemporary structure of concrete, glass, and steel, with the rooms and atmosphere of a modern European business hotel. The team is young, friendly, and capable, and the Japanese restaurant is superb—definitely one of the highlights of the stay. However, some details fall short of a true five-star experience: inconsistent number and quality of towels replaced daily, limited attention to bed making, lack of branded toiletries, and occasional back-office activities visible to guests. These are issues that training and attention to detail can solve. Two shortcomings are more structural. The single driveway serves both taxis and valet parking, so one car can easily block traffic. More importantly, the room air conditioning is inadequate for an international five-star hotel. Even running continuously at its lowest setting, my room would not cool below 73°F (23°C). Overall, a pleasant modern hotel with a promising team and excellent restaurant, but still short of the consistency expected from a true five-star property."

"We really enjoyed our stay in Hotel Life, a great hotel, very comfortable, near the station and the tram stop is just outside. We hired bikes from the shop on the same street and were able to store them in the car park over night. The staff were super helpful, they genuinely wanted you to have a fantastic stay. 4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Bruges

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Bruges is during January, February, and December, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For an enriching experience of the city’s key landmarks and cultural sites, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. This duration allows you to explore the historical attractions, picturesque lakes, and charming streets while enjoying budget-friendly dining options. With its friendly locals and excellent shopping opportunities, Bruges offers great value for money for those travelling on a budget. Additionally, prices may drop during these months, making it an even more appealing time to visit.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: If you’re planning a trip to Bruges, you may discover savings by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window section on Hotels.com. For spur-of-the-moment travel, check out the Last-Minute Deals section, where you could find discounted hotels near your travel date. Additionally, the Hotels.com app offers Smart Shopping , a comparison tool that enables travellers to compare hotel prices and amenities, keeping you informed should prices drop or rooms become available.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Therefore, being flexible with your travel dates could assist you in finding a more affordable stay in a Bruges hotel. For those in search of distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised experience and potentially better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could lead to a more favourable rate.
  4. Consider your location: Opting for accommodation closer to key attractions or city centres can offer convenience, but it often comes with elevated costs. For more budget-friendly options, you might consider hotels located in less central areas or neighbourhoods, striking a balance between price and easy access to your intended destinations. You may also wish to explore independent hotels situated further out, which can provide a more authentic experience that is usually more likely to be affordable.
