Mercure Newcastle George Washington Hotel Golf and Spa
"Great hotel in the northeast"
Maldron Hotel Newcastle
"Convenient location for exploring the city. Clean rooms, good breakfast. Unfortunately the water drainage issue in our bathroom remained unaddressed despite reporting it,"
Malmaison Newcastle
"After decades of staying in Newcastle we have tried numerous hotels and we find ourselves always coming back here. The staff are always really nice and genuine, the rooms spotlessly clean, public areas comfortable, food/restaurant really good. Located on the quayside with access to cheap, secure parking is a bonus. I believe most if not all of the rooms have been refurbished and are really smart. Save yourself a lot of time and just book Mal- you won't be disappointed!"
Lumley Castle Hotel
"The furniture and fittings in our room felt like they needed some TLC and a deep clean (lots of crevices and nooks / crannies etc that accumulate dust). Just seemed a bit tired and not as clean as we expected. Staff were brilliant and very helpful / friendly). Food in the bar seemed variable in quality and not as good as we'd hoped. Overall we enjoyed our stay but not quite the standard we'd expect for the price."
Copthorne Hotel Newcastle
"Beautiful location- Benches and tables outside by river but not allowed to sit out there with drinks. Why?"
Holiday Inn Washington by IHG
"We stayed in a pet room. It was very clean. The breakfast was lovely too. Great stay for a great price. The TV remote didn't work, the iron didn't work and the kettle took a while to boil - on reflection, i'd still give it 4/5 re the cost."
INNSiDE by Meliá Newcastle
"Lovely and comfortable stay in a convenient location, including for parking which was reasonably priced and close even when the nearest car park was full. The only downside to the room was this modern convention of sticking a shower in a glass cubicle within the room, rather than in a room of its own. I know this is often done to deter friends groups from reducing their number of room bookings, but even people travelling as couples sometimes enjoy a shower as one of the only times of their day spent by themselves and this prevents that. Otherwise a lovely hotel, and one I sought after a positive experience at a Meliá in Sevilla."
Royal Station Hotel
"Very central location, loved having a pool but wished it was open later at weekends"
Sandman Signature Newcastle Hotel
"I liked the room and the view was beautiful. I was checked in by a nice lady and she was very helpful. They gave me fresh towels everyday, I would book here again when I go to Newcastle."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Washington
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable months to visit Washington are January, February, and December, when hotel prices are generally lower. For a fulfilling experience that covers the city’s key landmarks, cultural sites, and historical attractions, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. This allows you to enjoy a variety of offerings, from family-friendly activities to budget-friendly dining options, all in a vibrant setting filled with friendly locals. By planning your visit during these months, you can take advantage of great value for money while exploring Washington’s rich history and culture.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: For your trip to Washington, you may discover savings on Hotels.com by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window section, which features a variety of hotel offers. If you're planning a spontaneous escape, the Last-Minute Deals may present opportunities to secure a room near your travel date. Additionally, the Smart Shopping comparison tool available via the app could help you compare hotel prices and amenities, keeping you updated on potential price drops or newly available rooms.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Therefore, being flexible with your travel dates may assist you in finding a more advantageous rate for your stay in a Washington hotel. If you're seeking a distinctive experience, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised atmosphere and occasionally better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could help you find a more appealing rate.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, though Washington’s excellent public transport links mean you might find a more affordable independent hotel further afield that remains well connected. For those wishing to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
