Downtown Nassau
City centre Nassau buzzes with colonial charm and island vibes that feel straight out of a postcard. The salmon-pink Parliament Buildings shine against blue skies while the hand-carved Queen's Staircase leads you through limestone cliffs. Browse handcrafted treasures at the Straw Market or soak in harbour views along the bustling waterfront promenade where cruise ships dock. The area serves up fresh seafood from upscale restaurants to casual conch fritter stands with flavours that'll make your taste buds dance. This walkable district makes exploration easy with water taxis connecting to Paradise Island beaches just minutes away. Most attractions sit within a 10-minute stroll of the wharf.

Cable Beach
Cable Beach dazzles with pristine white sand shores dotted with luxury resorts like Baha Mar and Sandals Royal Bahamian. The beach buzzes with thatched-roof bars and water sports centers where you can jet ski or parasail above turquoise waters. Casinos, beach clubs, and resort entertainment create a lively atmosphere for anyone seeking fun in the sun. Resort dining dominates the scene, from casual beachside grills to fancy steakhouses that won't disappoint your taste buds. Most visitors stay in upscale all-inclusive resorts or mid-range beachfront hotels with pools, spas, and multiple restaurants. Taxis and resort shuttles make getting around easy, though they're pricier than the limited public bus service along West Bay Street.

Palm Cay
Palm Cay delivers a dreamy slice of Nassau's finest beachfront living with 1,200 feet of private white sand and a yacht-filled 194-slip marina. The resort community feels like your own Caribbean paradise where days revolve around infinity pools that melt into ocean horizons. Take a sunset stroll along waterfront paths or try your hand at snorkelling in the crystal-clear turquoise waters. Upscale waterfront restaurants serve fresh conch and Caribbean fusion dishes throughout the day. Luxury holiday rentals and oceanfront villas offer all the comforts of home with added perks like private pools. While the area feels secluded, city centre Nassau is just a 20-minute taxi ride away.

Chippingham
Chippingham gives you a genuine peek into everyday Bahamian life just west of bustling Nassau. Families stroll past pastel-painted homes while cockerels announce the morning under swaying palms. Beach lovers can easily reach nearby Junkanoo and Saunders beaches for sun-soaked days. The Ardastra Gardens and Zoo offers a leafy escape with its famous marching flamingos. Cosy guesthouses and holiday rentals provide wallet-friendly alternatives to pricey resort stays. Local eateries serve up authentic conch fritters and fresh fish dishes that won't break the bank. While public buses run infrequently, taxis can quickly connect you to city centre attractions and shopping when you're ready to venture beyond this peaceful residential haven.

The Grove
Nassau's The Grove neighborhood offers attractions including Saunders Beach.

Nassau and related destinations
Beyond the turquoise waters, Nassau reveals itself as a place where pirates once ruled and royalty now holidays. At Junkanoo Beach, the sand squeaks underfoot while locals sell fresh conch salad from colourful shacks. The Queen's Staircase, 66 steps carved through solid limestone by slaves, leads to Fort Charlotte with cannons still aimed at phantom invaders. Straw Market vendors weave baskets with the same techniques their grandmothers used, happy to demonstrate between friendly haggling sessions. Paradise Island's massive Atlantis resort looms across the harbour, its water slides visible from city centre streets. For a true taste of island life, bypass tourist traps for the Fish Fry at Arawak Cay, where competing restaurants serve cracked conch and sky juice under strings of lights.

Goldwynn Resort & Residences
"The room, surrounding, beach and pool where well-kept and maintained. However there isn't much to do outside the compound as it is away from local shops and downtown. Generally friendly staff, although I did had a distasteful phone interaction with one receptionist while reporting an incident in our room, but after insisting that it has to be dealt with, management stepped in and rectified it. Overall My wife and I had a good and relaxing stay."
Ocean West Boutique Hotel
"I love this place it has great views! It’s very clean and the staff is lovely. Gated and very safe close to the most beautiful beaches. It’s my second stay and I’ll be back again!"
British Colonial - Nassau
"Excellent customer service from the entire staff. Nice and clean!! Will stay here again!"
Sandyport Beach Resort
"Lovely beach access and nice pools with a friendly staff."
SLS Baha Mar
"Loyal customer love the sls"
Blue Ocean Village
"We did a quick weekend stay and it was absolutely fantastic. The property is beautiful, with private beach access, it was almost like it was just us the entire weekend. It’s on cable beach so it quiet, and very intimate, but there’s restaurants and stores in walking distance. Lonah met every one of our accommodations with a smile, even arranging a sunset couples massage on the beach. And we highly recommend Big Mamma’s Taxi service as well, it will be recommended by the property as well"
The Island House
"The lasagna at the Pizzeria was fantastic, the landscape is absolutely beautiful, the staff was helpful and the welcome cookies are to die for."

For a thorough exploration of Nassau’s rich landmarks, history, and culture—including excursions, islands, beaches, seas, ports, tropical experiences, waterparks, seafood, and aquariums—a stay of at least 4 to 5 days is recommended. This period promises great value for money while providing an opportunity to experience the city’s cultural attractions and historical sites with lower prices.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: For your trip to Nassau, you may discover enticing DealsOpens in a new window on Hotels.com by exploring discounted hotel options near your travel dates. Additionally, Hotels.com's Smart Shopping tool, available via the app, helps travellers compare hotel prices and amenities, keeping you informed of any changes so you can seize a last-minute opportunity.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may vary depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your dates could help you save on your stay at a Nassau hotel. For travellers seeking a distinctive experience, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised atmosphere and may sometimes offer better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your selected dates is above or below the average, and if it appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest more affordable dates to help you potentially find a more attractive option.
- Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre generally tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Nassau's excellent public transport connections, you might discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well-connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often great value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
