"The hotel building and room overall were very clean and felt modern but the restroom was awful. Keep in mind you will not have privacy. The door does not lock, it's one of those annoying sliding doors. If you are sharing a room with other people, they will hear all your business. Other than that the breakfast was good and the room was clean but because of the bathroom I don't think I will stay here again."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Oakland
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Oakland is during February, November, and December, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For those wishing to explore the city's notable landmarks, historical sites, and vibrant cultural scene, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. During this time, visitors can enjoy a wealth of attractions, including sports events, live music performances, theatre productions, art galleries, stunning architecture, and a variety of dining options—ensuring a budget-friendly experience that offers great value for money.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: When planning a trip to Oakland, you may discover attractive hotel deals by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window section on Hotels.com. For last-minute travel, you're more likely to see reduced rates in the Last-Minute Deals area as travel dates approach. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool available via the app may help travellers compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you stay informed about potential savings opportunities. For added convenience, enabling email alerts or push notifications could keep you updated on flash sales and special promotions for your chosen hotels.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you find a better deal on your stay in an Oakland hotel. For those seeking unique experiences, boutique hotels may provide a more personalised touch and occasionally better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could offer more affordable options.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre typically come with a higher price tag, but thanks to Oakland's excellent public transport links, you may well discover an independent hotel further afield that is still well connected and more likely to be affordable. For those wishing to explore alternative, less congested neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations may provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
