Fun and Eco Friendly
I had a wonderful visit at El Momo. I was in Saba for hiking and the cottages were nestled into the woods, giving the perfect setting for enjoying the natural surroundings. The view from the cottages was amazing, the pool was a perfect spot to relax after a day out. The staff was helpful and friendly.

8/10 Very good

We had a great weekend in Saba. The owners were very nice and welcoming and the cottages were comfortable. Near lovely restaurants and shops, and close to the trails. Breakfast was great and pool refreshing. Only downside was the noise at night from neighborhood dogs barking and early roosters. We did not sleep well.

We loved this place, even if part of the appeal was in knowing that other people would be too spoiled or uptight to deal with the long stairs, the uphill walk home from the restaurants, the composting toilet, the occasional visit from the cat, etc. The proprietors are very sincere, personable and helpful and have a great sense of humor. Prices are better than fair. The pool is a great asset and the breakfasts are solid. If you think of the rooms as forest cabins instead of a "hotel," it feels glamorous. We heartily recommend this place.

4/10 Fair

Great views from our cottage, and the whole property. The owners Andries and Eva are nice and really working hard to make this work. But everything is old and needs work. That said this is a place in the middle of nature and of course there are bugs and butterflies. The breakfast they serve is just great and well priced. And how they try to be eco friendly is appreciated, but if all would be cleaner it would be better.

One of the best view in town. Andries and Eva are very nice, honest and reliable hosts. But take their warning about the steps seriously, when you book. Our cottage was 109 steps from the road, so travel light.

I like the idea. Not really practical FOR ME for an extended stay. However, the experience is a must try! Owner/staff was extremely friendly with a sense of humor. He made me feel safe & at home. Overall, I love the experience. For my first time on Saba, I would have done nothing differently.

El Momo is the kind of place that people who are into Eco tourism will truly enjoy. The bed was comfortable, the staff is very friendly and helpful, the location is on a mountainside embedded in a tropical forest, and the view from the balcony is spectacular. We came to Saba to experience a tropical island, and El Momo was the perfect place to stay. A little warning though, you will have to climb stairs, the frogs will sing all night, and the iguanas might nibble on your food. If that is not a problem for you, I highly recommend staying at El Momo.

Perfect especially if you want to meditate
Awesome! at first I thought it will be uncomfortable due it is all the way up in the mountains surrounded by plants and insects. I was surprised no musquitos or what so ever during the night. Without air conditioning but each room has a ventilator and is pretty chill in the night hours since Saba is surrounded by plants and the ECO systems worked good!! I recommend this place!

This is one of the best eco-lodges I've stayed in. First, don't let the stairs scare you off: if you're in moderately decent shape, the climb is not at all bad. After making your way up, you arrive at a lovely pool deck: the pool is fed with rainwater collected from the property. The water is very soft, chlorine-free, and so refreshing after a day of hiking and exploring Saba. Andries, the owner, is incredibly friendly and helpful: he knows the island in and out and can point you to variety of restaurants, things to do, etc. The simple but clean dining area has an amazing view overlooking the ocean: if you're lucky, you can grab a beer or glass of wine from the honor bar and catch the sunset from there. I stayed in the Lizard Room, a suite of four separate spaces: the room itself, a covered outdoor sink, a small room with a shower and toilet, and a private deck also overlooking the ocean. The room was simple but very comfortable: between a fan and the elevation, there was no real need for air conditioning. Though there's such a seamless blending of indoor and outdoor space, everything is immaculate and well cared for. In terms of location, El Momo is only about a ten minute walk from the heart of Windward Side, where you can dine, shop, and begin your hike up Mt. Scenery. I would gladly return on a future visit.

Cottages in paradise
The owners are a lovely couple who go out of their way to make you comfortable and welcome...super knowledgeable of Saba...cottages are beautiful. It is a natural setting and does have stairs, but then again nothing on Saba is flat...views are worth any walk, pool is lovely, about 10 minutes to town on foot...loved El Momo

For what it is, El Momo is great. One must be aware, however, that this is a very rustic place to stay. The cottages are basic cabins, there's no climate control (Saba is humid!), and there's not as much privacy as some people might like. The bathroom is outside of the cabin. You will be using a sink/vanity that is essentially outdoors although sheltered by plants. The toilet and shower are in an outhouse. The toilet is composting and the shower pressure was extremely low and the temperature never got warm. That being said, for all it's rusticity, everything was surprisingly clean and the wifi worked excellently! The whole experience is bordering on camping, but it had it's charm. There is a small pool and an honesty (honor system) bar. Each cottage even has a rustic patio with great views of the sea. The Dutch couple that runs El Momo is super friendly and helpful. I was picked up from the ferry without even requesting it, and I was given a ride to the dive shop when I checked out. Something else to be aware of is there are a LOT of steps up to El Momo and also to each cottage. You will have to haul your luggage up these steep narrow concrete steps. There are not many railings. All in all a really positive rustic experience!

Care to make simple cabins welcoming, such as chalk-board greeting and tropic flower. The scene, and owners, are ultra casual. This property is not for the faint on breath, given the somewhat irregular 70+ plus steps from roadway to the pool and office. Then there are additional steps to individual cabins, challenging again in some cases. Due to a cancellation, I was able to occupy the Turtle cabin, a bargain and must-do upgrade at only $20 additional. The unit has a generous projecting deck with a view to die for. Also a tidy kitchen. The view overall is spectacular. El Momo serves breakfast, but other meals mean a (very) strenuous walk into Westwardside. (There is a small guest refrigerator but no microwave.) Several times I was offered a ride uphill by a generous driver who saw my huffing and puffing. After one week, the hike seemed shorter, and the entry stairway less steep. Perhaps this replaces an exercise room.

2/10 Poor

QUITE UNFORTUNATE- DIDNT LIKE THE PLACE
We were not aware that the toilets were outdoors. It was not specified in the details. For those with bad knees, this is not the place for you seeing that we have to climb 92 steps to get to our rooms. I asked for a refund or even a 50% refund, but they refused to meet me in the middle. We left our first night.
