Not staying here again
It’s bad before you even get there. They send so many emails about their property and the only one that matters is the one you can’t find about the door code. It’s a really bad renovation job. The lobby is nice but the rooms are 80s motel renovations. The bathroom light and fan are on the same switch so if you turn on the light, you’ll be blasted by 40 years of dust. It was so loud I couldn’t even listen to music. The floors are peel and stuck and coming up from their adhesive. The bed was fine but that is about all I can say. Not a place I’d stay again.

Hidden gem
Unexpectedly great hotel. Lobby is unassuming although staff was friendly. Room was just what I needed. It’s cozy, but has everything including fridge and microwave. I would return.

We enjoyed the service and the cleanliness of the hotel. Room was nice and comfortable and quiet. The only issue we encountered was re-entry into the building after an early morning breakfast. The outside keypad wouldn’t register our room code.

I loved this stay. I found it exactly what I needed for a night. I only disliked the lobby and its condition. It diminished the overall experience.

Horrible Reservation System
The property was fine as were the staff onsite. The problems were with the reservation staff and system. I made a reservation for a King room, Tu-Fri. Less than a week before my stay, I got an email changing my King to a Double. Then got an email saying the problem was corrected, but the new reservation had changed my dates and was now 2 nights Wed-Fri instead of 3. I emailed reservations about the error. They said is was fixed. I was not. I was now in a Double for two nights. After no respond to multiple emails, I phoned. The rep upgraded me to a King, but I was now booked for Tu - Th, instead of Tu-Fri. After several hours of phone calls with staff, the date problem was finally fixed, but I was now downgraded to a Double. Overall, it was an extremely stressful, frustrating experience. I asked to speak to a manager and was told I was receive a call back. I never received a call.

This brand needs to be clearly labeled a hostel
First time in a Sonder and never coming back - pictures are not reality. Its a hostel not a micro hotel. Since everything is pretty much through an app/requires extra charge, perhaps cut out the front desk team entirely and invest for a better guest experience. As is, the folks were so underwhelming and set a negative tone off the bat. Secondly, we were awoken at 4:30am as there was a water leak in the bldg and they were looking for the source…the person was apologetic but not identifiable…so at first we were concerned to even open the door at all. Perhaps invest in Sonder branded uniforms? And when something like that does happen (as they do); give a small gesture to guests (for example; a free specialty coffee & pastry). Thirdly, we walked out in the morning and right outside the door a dog had defecated and I stepped in it. While not Sonders fault, it was right in front of the entrance so I walked into the lobby to let someone know and by the time we came back it had been trampled all over the entrance because no one did anything. At this point we already decided to leave the hotel early and tried to get a refund… we were told side walks are not their responsibility (duh), but dont you take pride in your entrance? Lastly, the bedding smelled old and the towels wreaked of bleach (glad to know they were at least cleaned). Overall, so disappointed as the experience definitely did not match the marketing / branding. We checked out early and went to a real micro hotel.

Great location for work trips. Room is self managed (e.g. no cleaning) but was offered complementary. Didn't need to interact with staff as I could check-in/out automatically, but any interactions as I left and entered were welcoming. A little damage on the walls of my room, hence a star lost.

Great location, super staff and quite accommodating. Our room with the terrace was fabulous. Only suggestion; we would have rather had a mini fridge than a wine fridge. But that’s as far as any complaints would go. We’d love to return soon.

I loved staying here, a little more like having an apartment than being in a hotel. (From the outside there’s not even a sign saying it’s a hotel) Friendly staff in the lobby are on hand to help with anything if necessary. The room was clean & smart, good aircon, massive bed & so useful to have kettle, Nespresso machine, microwave & little fridge. The only issue I had was that the bathroom floor flooded when I had a shower, a brilliantly powerful shower but there was nothing to stop the water coming under the screen door. Had to mop it up with towels everyday (they promptly gave me loads of extra towels when I mentioned this) However everything else was so good this would not stop me coming again. I was concerned from a few previous reviews about noise but this did not effect me, there is a bar on the top floor & a restaurant on the ground floor (not run by the hotel) The street is relatively quiet but it’s only a few minutes walk away from the shops / restaurants/ the Flatiron building. Everything about your stay (inc the ‘key’ to open your room door) is managed via the Sonder app. This worked well. I would definitely look up to see if there’s a Sonder in any cities I travel to next.

Wine cooler for a fridge?
The location is excellent with easy access to the subway and only a few stops from everything. The bed was very comfortable and took up most of the room. The room itself is pretty small, which is fine, but there is no drawer space to put away any folded clothes. There is a small wardrobe for hanging things but otherwise I lived out of my suitcase. The other bothersome thing is the refrigerator is not actually a refrigerator. It's a "wine cooler" which does not get cold enough to actually keep anything safe temperature wise. I'm really not sure of its purpose. I used it as a pantry for bread, peanut butter, etc but had to go get ice every day and use an insulated bag to keep things cold. I was there for 2 weeks for a class so didn't want to eat out every meal. I would stay here again for a shorter stay for sure. For longer stays I would probably book an airbnb or someplace that actually has a mini fridge.
