Tried and true!!!
The Point has been my go to when visiting Orlando for many years. The rooms and property itself, could benefit from a revamp; however, I appreciate the reasonably priced accommodations for a property that is so convenient to many major attractions. My only gripe is that my past two stays, I’ve seen the Orlando police dispatched to the hotel, which is unsettling. Last time for a fight in the parking lot, this time I’m unsure of the details.

Room was very dirty and smelled of smoke. Cigarette burns in the chairs, dust and hair all over the floor. I was so bad we had to change rooms. Everything is very old and beat up.

Mixed review
I like the convenience to Universal Orlando Resort. The room was clean and comfortable. The furniture is a little worn. Desk staff, housekeeping staff, and the other staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. The elevator need maintenance as it banged and rattled a bit.

The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. I would rate it higher, but it was a little outdated. There were no installed USB ports for charging. (We did come prepared though) The curtains were old and wrinkled. A lot of the cupboard and drawer’s lamination was separating. The full kitchen was nice and had most everything needed for our stay. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Needs a lot of work
The property was average. Not great at all but not the worst. For the price I would've stayed at Hitlon, Melia or my other usual properties. Everything reeked of weed, loud noisy guests, no ice machines, no doors except the front building worked so had to lug all my stuff through long hallways. No luggage carts available to help with that. It was just nit a pleasant building to be in at all.

2/10 Poor

Pros: Public area and pool are clean. Cons: Once you get into the halls, you'll notice the walls are banged up, patched up and dirty. Dirty rooms. Charges for housecleaning. No luggage cart. No ice machine. No vending machines. Coffee and water available only during continental breakfast hours. No towels out at the pool. No manager/supervisor in the evenings to help when problems arise. Wait til morning. We prebooked 2 separate stays in one week. One stay was in a suite with a washer/dryer, 2 tv's, two phones. The washer didn't work until a man came up and fixed it. Both tv's never worked. One phone didn't work. The sofa bed had a leftover dirty sheet on it that the front desk told us to put in a bag and set in the hall. Ew! Plus, we had to go down and pick up bedding for the sofa bed and we had to make it up. (Guess we're housekeepers now. I wonder if they will pay us?) If we weren't so tight on time, we would've cancelled our second reservation and found somewhere else to stay. We thought surely the next room would be better that the suite. Wrong! Both the tv and the phone didn't work! The surface areas, doors and baseboards were filthy. It felt like we were staying in a scummy run-down motel. A couple years ago The Point was a well maintained, kind of classy place that we looked forward to staying at when we were in Orlando. With the new management things have gone way downhill. Their replies to reviews aren't personal, they're identical rote answers. Never again.

Good but not great!
Friendly staff. The property itself is well maintained; although the rooms are a bit dated and show a bit of wear and tear. My only real gripe, though, is that the television didn’t work. I got a no signal error. Per front desk staff, it was a maintenance issue that was supposed to be resolved momentarily; unfortunately, it wasn’t.

2/10 Poor

This used to be our favorite place to stay in Orlando. It was clean, kind of classy and service was excellent. We looked forward to our stay after being away for 2 years. The moment we arrived at midnight for a 3 night stay we knew management had changed. The place was worn down. Banged up, dirty walls. Wherever there are door handles there is dirt. No baggage carts. It was midnight. We were tired. We got our two kids up to the suite, opened the hide-abed. There was a dirty, used sheet on it. No extra bedding in the room. The wall phone wasn’t hooked up so we had to go back to the front desk. The receptionist explained you have to request bedding for the fold away. He got me 2 blankets, a mattress cover, a sheet and a plastic bag for US to put the previous guests dirty sheet in! Ew! No housekeeping to do that. Then we had to go back down to get a missing sheet and 2 pillows. Very frustrating to not have the bedding situation taken care ahead of our reservation. The TVs in both the bedroom and the “living room” never worked. We could only have 4 k cups for our coffee, or return to the desk to request another 4. The new management now charges for continental breakfast. We got an email right before we arrived telling us they now charge a daily “resort fee” of $11.50. They also have daily charges for cleaning the bathroom, changing beds, etc (see picture) It’s obvious the new owners want to run the place cheaply and nickel and dime the guests. We will NEVER, EVER return here.
