Disappointed in this hotel.
Room was noisy and somewhat shabby. Disappointing. Saving grace is location. Easy access to Met Opera.

Enjoyed the Empire
Enjoyed our time at The Empire. The staff was great, the room was fine. Comfortable bed and clean. The window coverings did not open, that was a bummer as we would have loved some bright sunshine in the morning as we got ready but that is really the only negative about our stay.

Great location but room found wanting...
Location excellent. Room very basic and on the older side with bathroom sink and shower that did not function well (e.g., sink facet too low so difficult to put hand under facet). We specifically asked for room in higher floor with view (and waited a few min after check in time for room to be ready) but received room on the 1st floor facing street. Also room only had to soap when we got into room.

Old, tiny and dirty.
The hotel’s location is good but that’s about all it has going for it. The rooms are tiny and the bathrooms even tinier! The place is old and a lot of the room is falling apart. The heater/air conditioning unit looks to be about 100 years old and you have zero control over the temp. Wood falling apart, toilet running, shower falling apart. Also, no food of any kind in the hotel and not even a coffee maker in the room. Would not stay here again!!

Pay through the nose for location
It wasn’t worth $1,000/night to stay there. The room was small. The bathroom was tiny. There was no thermostat so adjusting the temperature was difficult. The bed was hard as a rock, as were the pillows. The devil/design was nice. The hallways were very dark. The only real plus was the location. Not sure that’s enough to justify the price.

Think Twice
I'm truly disappointed with the accommodations. It took 20 minutes to check in and when we got to our room our key cards didn't work. The room was small with no real additional place to sit other than the bed. The toilet began to run (loudly) every 20 minutes. When I looked in the bowl, I was stunned and thought it was unclean. After further inspection it was scratched and dirty. I asked to change rooms and was told that wasn't possible. Later that night, we realized the room temperature was at 88 degrees! No matter what we did to reset the thermostat, it didn't work. We finally turned the AC on but realized the curtains were covering unit and had to prop them up to allow for air flow. Oh, and did I mention the hair in the shower?!? After I cleaned it, the shower was super hot and not easily adjusted. I'm truly so disappointed. I had stayed here back in July and had a great room and experience. We won't go back again.

Room was too hot
The temperature in our room would not go below 82 degrees. We reported the issue 3 times and were not able to change rooms. We were given a small fan. We slept at a friends apartment.

The service was good but the room did not meet some basic expectations. It was very hard to sleep in it as the interior patio was very noisy. The room was extremely hot also. They sent an AC mechanic to check on it but the problem continued.

Hotel to be avoided at all costs
A disaster. Feces in the bed sheets Front door lock broken. Light bulb dead in the bathroom. Flickering bed lamp bulb. Faucet nearly jammed up in the BR. No more hot water for two mornings in a row. No breakfast facilities available for a 4 star hotel??? This hotel is in fact a one star hotel for the price of a 5 stars

Will stay here again!
The location was perfect and staff were great. Hotel was quaint and although the room was small, the beds were comfy! Only downside is the windows aren’t well insulated so you can hear everything outside and the room was a bit outdated.
