Learn more about La Jolla
Watching sea lions bask on rocky outcrops at La Jolla Cove feels like nature's most entertaining show. The tide pools reveal miniature underwater worlds where starfish and anemones create living art. At Torrey Pines State Reserve, hiking trails wind along dramatic cliffs with Pacific views that make stopping every few steps mandatory. The brutalist masterpiece of Geisel Library at UCSD looks like it might lift off into space at any moment. Birch Aquarium showcases local marine life with tanks that seem to bring the ocean indoors. The Museum of Contemporary Art provides cultural balance to all that natural beauty. For the perfect day, grab fish tacos from a local spot before heading to Windansea Beach, where skilled surfers make impossible waves look easy.

Inn By The Sea La Jolla
"Location is great. La Jolla is within walking distance, with many restaurants and shopping nearby. The staff is very cordial and cooperative. Even though the hotel doesn't provide a complimentary breakfast, they have 24-hour coffee and hot water."
La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club
"All perfect"
Pantai Inn
"I was choosing between three hotels all near the beach and I’m so glad I picked the Pantai. Besides it’s fabulous location and free breakfast, the staff is incredibly helpful. Plus there is a golf cart that the staff will readily use to take you around town. It was hot and humid, which they say is very unusual but we ended up using the golf shuttle, cause it was a fast and breezy way to go to many of the farther locations we would normally walk. The air-conditioning was beyond excellent. When I saw the other two locations, I considered I was doubly glad we picked the Pantai There were also free cookies, free drinks, nonalcoholic offered. It was an excellent excellent stay"
Holiday Inn Express & Suites La Jolla – Windansea Beach by IHG

The Sands of La Jolla
"The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms and outdoor pool areas are cleaned often during our 1 week stay. We will be back."
Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines
"Views were great. Room was amazing and clean. Everything was perfect except the pool was cold!"
San Diego Marriott La Jolla
"Clean room, decent buffet breakfast, excellent location. The hotel did not provide complimentary water bottles even though I am a Bonvoy Silver member. The front office (check in) staff was condescending."

To fully appreciate the area’s mix of landmarks, history and culture—including its sea, beach, sunsets, surfing, university, aquarium, dining, nature, birdwatching and seafood attractions—a stay of at least 3 to 4 days is recommended.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: Travel to La Jolla with ease by exploring DealsOpens in a new window, Last-Minute Deals , and Smart Shopping on Hotels.com. You may discover attractive hotel discounts near your travel date by checking the Deals or Last-Minute Deals sections. Stay informed about special flash sales by enabling email alerts or push notifications. The Smart Shopping tool available via the app helps you compare hotel prices and amenities, making it easier to spot when rooms become available or prices drop, so you're more likely to secure a last-minute getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices can vary depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your dates may help you save on your stay in a La Jolla hotel. Those seeking a unique experience might find that boutique hotels offer a more personalised stay and occasionally better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average, and if it appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest more affordable dates to help you secure a better deal.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive. However, thanks to La Jolla's excellent public transport links, you might find a more affordable independent hotel further afield that remains well connected. For those wishing to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations could offer a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
