Likely my last stay here
Firstly, I appreciate times are changing in Turkey with regards smoking, but it seems the hotel has always been relaxed about it. This time however I received a fine for "evidence of smoking" and that the room would require “enhanced cleaning”. Which seems to consist purely of the existence of a packet of cigarettes.
The next thing that happened this visit was I invited someone over to the hotel. A Turkish person. This person has visited me every time I have been to the hotel and never had any issues. On this visit however after going to the room we received a knock on the door only to be confronted by someone from the hotel late at night demanding ID on the basis that “they didn’t know if she was an escort”. She isn’t an escort of any kind.
When checking out I questioned both these situations with whom turned out to be the manager. I was stonewalled on both issues, payment was demanded repeatedly, and apparently the ID check was “because they need to know who is in the hotel” because it’s no different to been asked for Id at check in which isn’t what was said at the time at all.
Not impressed.
