For short stay
It was okay. Initially I had a shared room but another guest was extremely noisy when snoring so I asked to be changed to a private room and staff helped me. Perhaps they are not the nicer people you usually encounter working on hostal, they were not rude but diligent. The negative side is the reduced amount of washrooms per floor which is one for each gender (1 urinal + 1 toilet). Plus, I had my room beside the washroom and every time people flushed the toilet or turned on the dryer, it would trespass the wall

Great area to stay in there's bikes you can rent all over and even walking to the CN tower is like 30 minutues, staff was very nice.and the area was a little busy which in my eyes is a good thing there's some bars and restaurants nearby that were great.

Samesun ran good activities daily for guests and had catered well for gluten and dairy free options for continental breakfast. Well equipped kitchen, however, kitchen can't be used during breakfast hours. Showers were small and beds squeaky, but I would still stay here again.

Good place at low cost.
Fun stay at Toronto. Room was clean. The location of the hôtel was close to public transpiration wish was really convenient. People at the desk were really nice and Hive good informations. The kitchen is really cool. You can cook your food and put your things in the refrigerator. There are some activities organised if you wish.

A very good HOSTEL...Euro style. Young travellers.
Do not expect full hotel service...this is WHY it is called a "hostel". It is similar to a full fledged Int.l Youth Hostel facility, but is not affiliated with IYH. Do expect to mingle with younger world traveller, which we find fun. The neighborhood is a very "transitional" place with plenty of ethnic food options AND, a nearby homeless shelter. There is a neighborhood safety patrol to keep things orderly, but do not expect NOT to be exposed to the "underbelly" of street life in North America. Toronto has excellent municipal services to keep things "in check"...i.e. they have good cops!

Overall a nice stay, facilities were decent and close to tram stop. 2 women showers and 2 women bathroom stalls on each floor. Decent sized kitchen, dining room could be bigger as it often got full. It’s right next to Kensington Market which I didn’t realize how much of a party area that is. Luckily didn’t hear much street noise from my room but the overall area felt a little sketchy especially at night.

The place is clean and safe. The staff are helpful, polite and knowledgeable of the public transportation and surrounding facilities be it banking, currency exchange, grocery store, 24x7 available convenience stores. There's free breakfast, daily activities within SameSun and outdoor tour or food/beer crawl.

I stayed for 2 nights in the all female dorm. Clean room with lockers provided (own lock needed) beds were relatively comfy but did creak when moving around. I like the light that’s beside the bed along with outlet so close too! 2 showers for the female side and generally never had to wait to take a shower during my stay. Neighbourhood can be a bit sketchy but nothing too concerning, felt okay to walk alone. I really appreciated that there was many doors that needed key card access to different parts of the hostel which made the stay a lot safer in my perspective. Staff were friendly during check in and check out. Would stay again if in the area and looking for accommodation.

The place is generally clean and the rooms are a good size. The areas around the bed (e.g. walls) could be a bit cleaner. It's good that there is free breakfast, just wish there was an option to have boiled eggs for a more balanced breakfast. The area is very cool and eclectic though it is near a community center for people who do drugs. I wasn't too intimidated by it when coming back in the evening as the people there do not bother anyone.

Not what I expected
They do not assign beds so when I returned to my room for my second night, my bed was taken. Also it seems they only replace the bed sheets and pillow cases; NO comforters. My room smelled really bad. Additionally, there are only 2 toilets and 4 showers per floor. There are at least 10 rooms per floor and tens of beds. Also, toilets are similar to the ones in restaurants, bars or public places. Kitchen and common areas are ok. Staff friendly and nice. The area is a little sketchy but I did not feel unsafe. There's quite a contrast in the surroundings; homeless, drug use, tourists, hipsters and area residents. Public trans very close. I know Toronto is expensive but I found this hostel a little over priced for the value.
