Profile: Downtown Baltimore

Profile: Downtown Baltimore

Downtown Baltimore is sandwiched between Inner Harbor and Mount Vernon, at the center of the city’s cultural scene. At its heart is the Baltimore Basilica, a grand, Neoclassical cathedral complete with portico and dome to rival the Pantheon. At the nearby Walters Art Museum, you’ll be treated to millennia of art, from the prehistoric to the contemporary.

This central district is also a top spot for foodies, boasting some of Baltimore’s best restaurants. From stone-baked pizzas to fresh seafood, there’s plenty to tempt the taste-buds, and every summer you can enjoy Downtown’s Restaurant Week when tasting menus and pop-ups abound.

We had to change rooms when we arrived. Which was much of a problem after the smell of the room left my nasal cavities. The staff seems to have an attitude but maybe it’s the way of life in this area. No towels are available except a hand towel I used to dry off after a shower. The shower had a ball of long black hair on the door. Could use a better cleaning as this is not a bad looking hotel

    Not great

The hotel lobby was fairly clean but everywhere else in the hotel was dirty. The hallways were very stained, the elevator was digusting and our room was dirty. We were told when checking in that they had no other rooms available and only had 3 housekeepers for the entire hotel so they were backed up. The breakfast consisted of only yogurt, muffins and really bad coffee.

    never again

It was announced that the hotel had free parking, when we got there they charge $15 per day for parking. Room had a horrible "human" smell inside, we asked to change the room and they say NO. The carpet of the hall in floor 4 was so dirty it seems they havent clean in months. hotel was next to a highway dangerous to walk at night.

The hotel was surprisingly modern and nice for the area it was in. We heard police sirens, gun shots, helicopters through the night so it isn't in the greatest area. But I'll be honest - I needed a place close to the train station, this was the last room available and it was clean. For a single night, I'd stay again.

This place is a dump. The room had a weird smell that never went away, and the carpet had stains on it.

Smells like marijuana throughout the building, it’s dirty outside, I had no housekeeping service the entire stay, and I had to have my room key reprogrammed seven times. The walls are very thin; people conversing throughout the night kept waking me up. It did not feel like a safe place.

The walls were thin, we were woken up by other guests. The hotel is smoke free but the rooms smelt like smoke and they were trying to hide the smell. I will not stay here again.

The check-in staff was absolutely lovely. The room was fine and clean enough. The area around the hotel was littered and had several people hanging around. We walked a few blocks toward the PowerPlant area and witnessed a big fist fight in the middle of the street. There are police cars parked in lot next door, but no police presence otherwise. We quickly switched to another hotel, when we were concerned about coming back to the hotel after considering coming back to this location after our evening events. Sorry, Sleep Inn, not your fault, just sketchy location.

    Price isnt worth it.

$15 to park a day.Veding machines are missing buttons and breakfast is juice or coffee, yogurt and muffins as they try to get you to order thru them for room service. But the plus is its in walking distance to alot of things. If you visit till dec on a Sunday be sure to check out the farmers market.
