    Pleasant stay

Nice hostel with pleasant staff in a very handy and vibrant area of Toronto. The only draw back of my room was not having windows, which is pretty standard with a lot of hostels in older converted buildings, but other than that it was fab.

This property was quiet and comfortable. The linens, room and bathroom were clean. The communication and front desk service were excellent! This is an older property that needs new carpets. It was a comfortable and quiet stay which is what I needed.

Had great a great experience customer service wise, but i was very disappointed when we showed up and got to our room and there wasnt even a window! Is this even legal? Im pretty sure it is not. If a fire was right outside of our door where we would we go? Having no window also it makes it very difficult to get up at a reasonable time especially since the walls are paper thin so everyones noise keeps you up most the night. I have no problem with a shared bathroom but the one on our floor the shower portion hardly locks which I did not appreciate. For a 130 dollars (this included parking) i was a bit disappointed even for Toronto (i know things are expensive there so i was happy to find a room at this rate) I will not be returning and I feel very ripped off.

    Convenient hostel with local facilities

I was a little concerned by some old reviews of this hostel talking of mice & cockroaches and was pleasantly surprised by its cleanliness & lack of vermin. I had a single ensuite room on the ground floor - quiet, comfortable, spacious & clean. Plenty of towels, lovely comfy bed and bedlinen. Good warm shower. The nearby kitchen was large but a bit basic. I didn't need to use it but noticed the oven and a fridge were broken. Free tea, coffee & sugar supplied. I was late arriving and the staff waited for me ( supplement to pay for late arrival as stated in their ad). The only downside to my room was that it was internal so no external windows & it got very stuffy despite the floor fan supplied. The area around is interesting with plenty of cheap eateries & within walking distance of Chinatown etc though the bus goes right past too. Fairly straightforward to get to & from the airport on public transport.

    Honesty Is The Best Policy

Very friendly staff. My room was clean when I arrived. They were honest people, they told me weeks ahead that my room has no windows, which is fine with me because I'm not claustrophobic. They also told me weeks ahead that paying credit card will have additional percentage charges compared to paying cash in local currency. I was prepared with those advance information they e-mailed me. I stayed in room no.1, which has a private toilet and bath, which was clean. Centralized AC in that specific room. Personally, I would describe this more of a hostel rather than a hotel. And I didn't expect a 5 star hotel, and they never claim to be. Just outside is the bus (or streetcar) stop. Very accessible by public transportation. I'm happy. Thank you

    Great cheap place.

We were down for Toronto Pride. The Kaisar Guest House is a very affordable place in a great central area. At this price it ain't the Ritz, but it is clean and quiet, and everything works. Spartan is the word. I would go back. The neighbourhood is one of Toronto's 'unique' ones, and is much, much safer than first impression.
