The Honolulu Museum of Art is a comprehensive art museum housing one of the largest collections of Asian and Pan-Pacific art in the entire country. Inside this museum, you'll find more than 50,000 pieces of art.
Anyone can find fun in this museum, but visitors who are fans of Asian art, in particular, will be especially delighted. There's nothing in this museum that's overtly unsafe for children to see, so feel free to bring the whole family along. Most people spend about 2 or 3 hours here looking through the entire collection.

Honolulu Museum of Art highlights
One of the most appealing aspects of the Honolulu Museum of Art is its collection of Asian Art. While you'll find plenty of work done by native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders, this museum also houses an extensive array of works by Japanese and Chinese artists.
Along with the artwork, you'll also find a theatre in the museum called the Doris Duke Theatre. It has enough seating for 280 people, so it's a relatively intimate setting for hosting films, concerts, and other presentations. The theatre is home to the annual Rainbow Film Festival.
Good to know when visiting the Honolulu Museum of Art
When you visit the Honolulu Museum of Art, you'll find a modest admission fee, but it's waived for visitors 18 years of age and younger. Additionally, Hawaii residents can get in for free every Friday evening from 4 pm to 9 pm.
While you're visiting the museum, you'll find yourself fairly close to several other interesting attractions in the area. It's right across the street from the relaxing Thomas Square and just south of the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Head about a mile south, and you'll find yourself at the coast.
